Why would you buy/open packs for the new set right now??

I've realized that you should never buy/open packs when a set is released. If you buy packs early, it's likely that all the cards aren't finished, and that now they're holding some Mythics back for cash purchases or quick game rewards. I'm guessing those cards will go into the packs later.

In three months when you've got all the cards in the packs, I'll open my cards. I think it's borderline dishonest that they're selling packs to incomplete sets.

Don't open your packs yet people until the set is complete!

This has been a hot topic for the past week. icon_razz.gif If you spent money on crystals/packs and feel cheated, they suggest you contact customer support for compensation.

Otherwise though, it is a better idea to hold onto packs for now imo.

You'd do it if you wanted the cards currently in packs but don't want the cards not in packs yet. Pretty unlikely given what they've left out, but yeah.

You'd also do it if you just wanted new cards, and wanted to play with them now, or were impatient, or didn't know about the split set.

Is Veteran Warleader obtainable yet?! I've was definitely blind-sided by the slow rollout of cards, but I was thinking that they were all available now. I simply can't find information about that card, however.

It's been beyond frustrating, which is a shame given the game's potential. I definitely got bitten as I wanted to make a Rally deck with the new Gideon and figured I'd give them some money for making a fun game. Whoops.

I still can't even find out if Veteran Warleader is available yet. I've seen confirmation that Lantern Scout is, but I know how unlikely I am to get the one rare I want... icon_e_sad.gif

I've purchased two big boxes of Zendikar and I don't regret it. I've been playing since mid-December so I really wanted some new toys to play with. Having said that, I am going to hold off on buying any more packs until the remaing cards are released.

I think all the cards that are unreleased are mythic and rares, so my strategy was to buy 1 BB when they came out, to get an assortment of commons and uncommons then save my crystals until after they release all the cards to reduce chance of duplicate rares/mythics.

I'm not a fan of the prices they charge, but there are a lot of very good commons and uncommons in this set (and in the game in general). Buying a fat pack or big box early means getting a very high percentage of "cards you don't already own".

Later on, when they release all the rares and mythics, you might have a slightly higher chance of getting a rare or mythic you don't already own, but by that time, you might have most or all of the commons and uncommons. So on a "cards you don't already own" basis, you'll probably wind up with less.

As for why someone would do it, there's always something about experiencing an event when the event is fresh and new. People pay $20,000 for tickets to the Super Bowl, when they could just watch it on TV for free. Those people aren't necessarily wrong, and the person who watches for free isn't necessarily wrong. It's just a matter of how much you value the experience and how much you value your time and money.
