I opened 170 Legendary Tokens - now what?

I don't know how often people open 170 Legendary Tokens at once, but that's what I did last night.

There were 50 'real' Latest Legends tokens, then 113 20-CP Classic Legends tokens, then the champ levels as I applied covers earned me four more Latest Legends tokens and 60 CP for three more Classic Legends for a grand total of 170 tokens.

These 170 tokens yielded 12 5-Star covers, a rate of 7%.

Disappointing, but better than my previous life-time average (eight 5-Star covers from about 200 tokens, or 4%). My new life-time average is 5.4% (versus the published 10% chance). Yay, me.

I still don't have an OML with enough covers to use in high-end PvP.

Going in, I had the following 4-Star champions:
Hulkbuster, Jean Gray, Iceman, Cyclops, Kingpin, X-Force Deadpool, X-Force Wolverine, X-23.

I had hoped to champion two of the following:
Red Hulk, Quake, Punisher, Nova, Venom

With the covers I pulled, Quake got championed but Rulk, Punisher, Nova and Venom are all on 12/13 covers (with a stack of unusable covers for each expiring in my Rewards queue - 4, 4, 2 and 2 respectively).
In retrospect, I should have decided which I liked best with when I still had at least 120 CP, and directly bought their 13th cover. Oops. I was caught up in the thrill of opening packs.

So, I'm now sitting on ~600k ISO with covers coming out my ears and no idea what to champ.

My fully-covered options include:

Ant-Man (9 covers in queue) Falcap (9 covers in queue) Thing (6 covers in queue) Ghost Rider (4 covers in queue) Thor (2 covers in queue)

Fully covered characters who I do not intend to champion and whose covers go straight to ISO:
Professor X, Elektra, Star-Lord, Invisible Woman, Carnage, Drax, Nick Fury, Mr Fantastic, The Awful Hulk.

I'm told that Ant-man is underrated, so maybe him? Thing is pretty dependable, maybe him? Maybe hold out for a suitable Rulk/Punisher cover?

Please let me know your suggestions as to who I should champion, and why.

Thor is a possibility, but I already have Cyke with the same colours, who doesn't have the stun but also does good damage...

Then Batman (or hopefully you get an extra cover for someone like nova by then). Edit: ha! Batman = antman + autocorrect. This would be a very interesting addition to mpq!

How long were you building up that stockpile? It's quite impressive. And out of curiosity, why champ venom but not carnage?

Rhulk green should be reward in Thor - if that's the color you need I'd wait a week and do that one first.

Otherwise I'd go Thing first.

Sorry to hear about your OML (the only character that matters) luck. I'm in similar situation - usable phoenix, but it's not OML so why bother leveling it?

Carnage is a tile spammer who guarantees that I'll use up extra health packs. I don't have a counter-spam 4* or a yellow direct damage nuke so Venom is much more attractive to me right now.

Rulk green is the one colour I don't need. My Phoenix is now up to nine covers (mostly purple) and OML is my second best 5* at four covers.

Carnage is definitely limited, but my impression is that he has more value than venom, even if it's just as a defensive deterrent when boosted. Both seem solidly mid-tier in the current 4* meta.

Venom's yellow nuke is pretty unique in 4* land though, so I can see some value in champing him.

As for your 5* plight, at least your phoenix has mostly purples. She really doesn't work well at all without several purple covers. And even with those covers, it's not clear to me that's she worth leveling if she is your only 5*. It's pretty frustrating that they built a wildy over-powered new tier, and THEN made a single wildly overpower character within that tier (all gated behind pure RNG too). How could anyone look at the final builds of SS, OML, and Phoenix, and think to themselves "yeah, that's a balanced new group with which to launch a new tier!"

I hear you. So very, very frustrating. I'm not levelling her at this point, will just pump ISO into 4*'s while hoping for those elusive OML covers...

since you have 2 weeks, you could likely earn more than 120 cp in those 2 weeks to apply to rulk if you wanted to handle it that way. apart from that, thor, then thing would be my choices. I like antman, but every time I ask top players, they say skip him. same thing with my SS. they just don't do enough damage. I will say 4thor with im40 can hit way above their weight. for the hard essential nodes where I was dragging along a weak hawkeye or bucky, im40 and 4thor took less damage in return than other nodes where I had decent characters and teams. even with im40 not boosted and 3 opponents into the 300s.

Batman has a variety of interesting and fun powers. But they are all slow and/or fragile. He is a high value pve character, but not PvP material.

Isn't rulk the 1k PvP cover in the next PvP event? Seems like cramping him first after that event is the best plan.

My Rulk has 5 green - it's a red or purple that I need to take him to 270. I picked up Nova and Punisher covers at their respective 1k PvP progressions - wouldn't be at 12/13 without them!

Thanks. After her nerf, I hadn't seen 4Thor as such a priority to level but the comments here are really making me think about her. Hmm.

Let's say that in the next 10 days or so I earn the CP to directly cover one of Punisher/Nova/Rulk/Venom and the ISO to champ two characters.

At the moment, I'm thinking Punisher and 4Thor. Both do massive damage with some setup (strike/charged tiles). Rulk and Thing (and Nova, etc) just get put on the list for later. Does that sound optimal?
