Please reassure me that Carnage isn't terrible

It's been my #1 goal since I started playing, one of the main reasons I still play, to get a fully covered Carnage. I think he came out like a month after I started playing and was astonished at the power that one character could deal. By some absurd miracle, I was able to get him (I think the odds were .2% back then) and couldn't believe it. I would spend my HP to get covers and kept at it, until that was no longer an option. Today he's only at 1,2,3 and I was just perusing through some rankings and he's consistently ranked as one of the absolute worst in the game! What the heck, I get that things change, I get that his black is really annoying, his red is self-destructive, and his purple is ehh, but come on?! He's still good right? I would never, ever fight one in pvp (he's a mildly scary deterrent) and I would take him with self-healers and tile boosters for mass destruction (once he's usable). I just can't believe it, what a bummer.

    Isn't carnage red/black/green?

Overall he is meh. In the category of 4*s that are usable if they are all you have, or when boosted. He had some defensive value in pvp when released, but nowadays I think others like iceman (and of course gg) are more threatening on defense. He is still irritating to fight because he generally means guarateed damage, even if he loses.

He's not terrible if he is your first 4*, but if you want to maximize your gameplay value I would target the top tiers first.

Carnage is not terrible he just needs the right people around him or you have to be willing to spend a lot of health packs. When paired with OML his strike tiles and self healing are huge. Pair I'm with MR F and MR F does not die. Doc luck is also a good 3* pairing.

When he is buffed a lot of people don't like fighting him because there is a good chance you will need a health pack. Overall he is in the middle tier of 4*.

He's fine. Not one of the best, not one of the worst.

I love Carnage, he is fantastic on defense. His red is one of the highest damage/AP moves in the game, and you don't care that he hurts your team too because you don't need to use health packs to heal after a defense.

The main reason I use him on defense though is for his animations. When I am hopping I often get targeted by 5* teams, and while Carnage isn't getting me defensive wins against these teams, it is slowing them down so that they can't double tap me on a hop since every time someone uses an ability they have to wait for that Alien Instincts animation.....over and over and over. There is no such thing as a quick win over Carnage, and so I always try to finish my hops with him out so that when I unshield that is what people see. A Carnage/JG team gets a lot of skips too.

He also has probably the best TU to use for baking too. Definitely worth maxing IMO.

A lot of people don't like self-damaging characters on principle. His rating is low, I'll bet, because you can't climb the ladder with him, but lots of people use him as a deterrent in PvP. He's not bad for shield hopping, but not as amazing as people hoped/feared. Well balanced, I think.

He also pairs really well with powers that people are predisposed against, like healing, protect tiles, etc. I recently played him with Colossus and found it surpisingly fun to turn on Immovable Object and fire off Sythces without abandon.

Who knows how useful he will be by the time you fully cover him, but what I really like about MPQ right now is that with 100+ characters you are bound to find some fun combo in your Roster.

Mine is sitting at 3/2/1, and I am actually kind of hoping to cover/level him at some point within the next year because he's a great PvP deterrent. I avoid him like the plague in PvE and PvP both if I can. Pair him with guys who have cheap abilities, and he'll be the source of nightmares. Not to mention what Peter brought up and I hadn't thought about; his ability spamming slows down teams itching for that quick fight.

People don't like him for the self-damage. I am among those, but no character is without merit. After some of the Team Iron Man essentials, I am actually kind of excited to level up my Vision in the near future, which is a character I had hated before and thought was stupid.

he definitely good, middle tier but still good, you see him EVERYWHERE when he's boosted. Red really is one of the best damage to ap ratios in the game, and his green does decent damage when there's enough special tiles(Protip: Use Mstorm black Team up for maximum damage) put him with a healer and you'll only have to heal one person most of the time.

He pairs great in pvp with oml. No one wants to face that team. OML absorbs all the damage from his black and red attacks, so it works out fine.

    He's one of my favorites.

I'll mention again that he's part of one of my favourite teams for simulator: Carnage, Doc Ock, Devil Dinosaur. When it gets going the animations are awesomely slow. And I don't mind the self-damage because I play only a few games a day.

I even get the occasional defensive win...

He's also amazingly brutal with 3/5/5 hulkbuster. Add iron fist or doctor doom, and you've got yourself some quick matches.

when he's boosted I love to use him with my damaged hb. When hulkbuster has under 50% hp Im just switching whoever was runing with him for Carnage - that's burtal, fast and enjoyable icon_e_wink.gif
Also with boosted carnage and patch as fetured was my first time when my team of 4* wen't against lv450 oml and gave me victory icon_e_smile.gif

I love teaming with with Classic Bullseye. Carnage makes plenty of easy ammo for him!

Carnage is great for the 4 star ddq without having his black, but beyond that I depise the character abilites.

The Drax PvP had Carnage boosted. I paired Carnage with OML and the loaner Drax. I could fire his red with no consequence since OML would heal and next fight I would get a new loaner Drax.

Carnage/Doc Ock/3* Bullseye is one of my favorite combo teams.

Carnage is a mixed bag. Arguably one of the strongest 4's but deals damage to your team. NO one gets away from a Carnage match unscathed. I know one successful player that uses Carnage as their go to.
Plus- other players avoid him. Will do damage and repeated animation screens slows down matches. Also pairs great with strike tile generators like OML (plus self healing) or healers like KK and shield generators like thing, falcap or Prof X.
Cons-limits pvp progression with need for constant health packs, and longer pvp matches opening you up to damage

In the end it's what you like. Also you never know when a new character comes out that makes another one great (IM40's upgrade has made my poor Thor Goddess good again after collecting dust for more than a year). If you always wanted Carnage and enjoy his playing style go for it.

He also has probably the best TU to use for baking too. Definitely worth maxing IMO.

You seriously use him to bake. I can not think of a worse choice off hand as he is unpredictable and has the slowest matches.

I think the post said that his teamups are useful for baking. Carnage himself would make an awful cupcake.

He said TU. Car ages red cost 7 AP for an AOE. His massive damage to the first target will take out the loaner 3* and the other 2 min character with the rest. Since you are backing you don't care too much about the self damage.

Don't listen to the rankings! If you love him, pump him up and use him til the enemies' cries can be heard in the streets. That's what this game is about. Have the most fun you can. And Carnage can be sadistically awesome fun.

He used to be my go to in the Big Enchilada, along with 3* Spidey and Prof X. Get 7 purple, go invis, and boost the **** out of lots of attack and protect tiles. He recently got replaced by Ghost Rider, but I still use Carnage there from time to time.

Also others mentioned, his red can also destroy teams when you need fast damage. Who cares about self-damage when you want speed.

And he's definitely a mild deterrent.

I enjoy the playstyle of keeping your special tiles on the board and buffing them, so I've always been a fan of 3* Falcon and Prof X. Carnage fits right in with that style. It becomes a game of matching away the comp's tiles and keeping yours.

So don't listen to the naysayers. Have a blast with him and become the best darn Carnage player there's ever been.

Yes And no. By all means players should feel free to level up their preferred characters regardless of strength. And they should okay however they want. But some players WANT to level up just the best characters in each tier and play the meta. Not sure where TC comes down, but the fact is that carnage is meh overall and TC should definitely level and enjoy using him if that is TC"s preference.
