Am I reading this correctly? All cards were/are not available in the purchasable packs?! You have to be kidding me. You release a set but exclude certain cards from being attainable in packs.... Please tell me this is not true and that I'm misreading this somehow.

the funny part is that the problem was not that they didnt finish coding the cards, they just didnt feel like adding them, because those cards were played by the IA enemies in the story challenges

Yes would like to hear from devs cause this is something unexpected.

If at the moment not all cards in expansion are obtainable basically I wasted big boxes cause I have less chances to get card I do not already own.
That could explain a little why I have only 5 different origin mythics AND already one of them I have x4 copies :/

Yeah, I've seen many duplicate rares and Mythics, especially in BFZ, and this would seem to explain it. I'm still in a state of disbelief.

You know, I was wondering when I'd open my lifelink ally for Gideon. Hero of Goma Fada and Lantern Scout seem like important cards to have been, just, left out apparently.

This is such a shameful thing.
To be honest I can see the problem with their pricing, but hey no one forces ppl to buy stuff if you do not want to.
But this is SERIOUS DISRESPECT for players.

YOU CANNOT ASSUME THAT PLAYERS WOULD KNOW THAT NOT ALL CARDS WERE ALREADY OBTAINABLE.

I think it is to such a level that a refund(spread to everyone) would be needed with excuses much more than when you get server issues or stuff like that.
I hate so much that the game in itself is so good and fun but it is so badly influenced by "money grabbing" stuff.

After all the news today, I think this has finally cemented my decision to give up on this game. The only thing I find sad is that this should in no way reflect badly on the source game, Magic the gathering. The folks at wizards of the coast who have been designing and developing magic have done an amazing job of keeping the game going strong after over 20 years. Download magic online and watch how much more fun you will have with $50.

If you spend $50 on Magic Online cards and don't like them, you can probably sell them to a bot for approximately $47.50.

If you open a pack of paper Magic cards and pull a $50 card, you can probably trade it to one of your friends for about $50 worth of other cards.

If you're really good at paper Magic, you might be able to win hundreds or even thousands of dollars in cash and prizes in a tournament.

Whoever is pricing these things really seems to misunderstand the reason that people spend money on Magic cards.

As for the new cards, I agree it's pretty lousy to find out they weren't actually available in packs. THEY SHOWED UP ON THE CHECKLIST OF AVAILABLE CARDS. I really appreciate the new feature, "Show All Cards" in the Inventory section, but I had assumed they actually showed all cards. At the very least, I think it would be prudent to put "COMING SOON" or something on cards which are not actually available from packs at the present time.

Magic Origins did release some cards later - Animist's Awakening and Evolutionary Leap for example. But back then, there wasn't any kind of checklist other than a fan-created database based on cards people actually owned.

Battle for Zendikar should have some additional cards coming. Planar Outburst is glaringly missing (destroy all non-land creatures, with an awakening cost). So I suspected that some cards would be coming later, but I didn't realize that some cards in the checklist didn't actually exist.

By the way, this wouldn't be a big deal if we could easily convert duplicate cards or runes into specific cards we don't already own.

I find this pretty outrageous. I turned in crystals for 2 BFZBB and I'm pretty pissed since there was no disclaimer that the packs were limited and only contained some of the cards. Lantern Scout was a big target, I definitely would have waited if I knew that there were cards unobtainable when I traded in the crystals.

I am very, very close to shutting down my site and boycotting the game over this. This is straight up deceptive business practices. I bought 2 bfz big boxes because it appeared that all 238 cards from the expansion were available. To find out that over 20 cards have not been released even though they appear in the card filter is beyond frustrating.

Between this, the vastly reduced ability to get rares and mythic from packs, changing the entire QB prize and payout structure with no warning or explanation at all, and the clear p2w model (because 32/32 reach tramplers for 24 is balanced amirite?) I am less and less sure this game has a long term future despite some excellent game play.

It's really sad that all the hard work Hibernum has been doing is being ruined by these awful pricing models and deceptive practices. Making your player base feel like they've been victims of a bait and switch by PROUDLY announcing that you're releasing new cards that everyone already thought were in circulation is complete and utter ****.

I am so incredibly mad right now.

This is good to know.. it means that next time there's a new set, there's literally no point spending any money on it until all the cards have been released.

Shame we didn't know that this time around, of course.

I am as irate as everyone else that cards were 'missing' from the BFZ expansion. However we would never have expected them if not for the improved inventory system that came out at the same time. Communication could have been clearer.

    1. We were told new cards would be released the coming weeks.
    2. It was not indicated that these would be new to the packs, and were already present in the inventory system.
    3. As has been pointed out elsewhere, the information button on the packs lists what cards are available for crystals.

I do not think this was a deliberate move, but an oversight.

Now we know better (those that read the forums at least). New players will not be so lucky unless they happen upon the right thread. Until the development team fixes the inventory system to either flag or exclude cards not available in packs, then I wish they would throw up a sticky to the forums before someone (else) wastes a bunch of crystals chasing a specific card (curse you Lantern Scout!)

Ya, dropped a little money to get a box and Gideon, was hoping for lantern scout after seeing it in the tutorial. Well now I know it was more than bad luck. icon_e_sad.gif

It was added just this past Friday so if he bought cards before that, there was no chance for Lantern Scout.

It was, I knew my chances were not good, but it really irks me I dropped around 50 bucks on this game and my chances now were not even possible when I did it. Yes I did get Gideon and got acouple other worthwhile cards. But nothing to freak out about. Still have gotten more worthwhile cards off the free 3 pack than cards I have paid for.

I think what will happen with this game is that a lot of the old timer original players like ourselves and most people on these forums will quit for reasons we have listed. Then a new batch of people will come in and spend outrageous amounts of money seeing the power they can gain by buying stuff like Kiora. And the game will persist in an awkward unbalanced (yet profitable) state for awhile, and it will eventually become MPQ. Which is to say- great core game. Horrible design/monetization/reward structures.
