Eu players at a disadvantage

This is the second time I lost the reward I wanted cause of the time the competition ends.
Last night around 1.00 AM(that is already kinda late) I go to sleep, 5th position, 3 hours left for rewards, 10th place is like 150 ribbons behind.
Now I thought that all 5 places behind me committing last time to rank was unlikely so I go sleep.
Other times I put an alarm(AT 3:35 AM) to check but was not willing to since really tired.
I login this morning and I am 11th basically WASTED all the time and effort in the last three days.

This is sooooo stupid.
For European players to check your rank in last minutes you have to wake up in the middle of the night.
The other chance if you are not willing to is to get such a big distance that is mathematically impossible for lower ranks to catch up but since just getting to top ranks in itself it already so hard, achieving this distance is self destructive.

Also Eu players cannot try the "last minute bracket" tactic unless you are willing to wake up in the middle of night AND play like crazy for some time.
This is ridiculous.

Do you still get dumped into a tiny bracket if you jump into a round right at the end of it, or has that been fixed?

I imagine whether you get into a new bracket or not depends on what the state of the newest bracket is (and what exactly is the bracket generating algorithm - it doesn't fill every bracket).
