Catacomb Sifter - card draw not working

I used reclaim on the token it spawned and didn't get a card. Do tokens not count? Also, if the sifter itself dies, would it trigger a card draw? If so, that also doesn't work.

Edit: Upon playing more with this card I have to wonder about wording and design. If a creature is discarded from hand, is it considered destroyed? Because Liliana's 3rd ability reads that it brings back destroyed creatures (even if discarded). Sifter's ability says if a creature you control is destroyed, draw a card. There's an inconsistency here.

Edit: I feel like the design of this card would be better if the Sifter had vigilance instead of defender so that the scion can be put in first slot when they both come out together.
