I have a dream....

That one day, I won't see spiderman in every enemy team I come across in PvP. That one day, there will be variance in the teams that I play against. That he will be balanced soon, and the world will know joy and peace ever after!

Well, maybe that last part is a bit of a stretch, but I will be honest here. Seeing spidey in every single match is a pain in the rear. Not because he can't be beat, but rather because when I go to play a match I would actually like to play. True, denying him blue can happen, but more often than not, those wonderful cascades happen and then you get to sit there for a certain amount of time waiting and watching the AI play with itself. This seems counterproductive to actually picking up the game and having a "quick" match while you are on break from work.

Alright. Rant over.

No matter what the best healer available will always be over used and skew team diversity.

This is simply because starting the next fight injured can be dangerous, the penalty for being downed is large, and Health Packs are pricey. If Spider-Man loses his heal OBW will take his place. If they both lose their healing maybe then the problem of the slow recovery rate especially for high HP characters will be fully exposed and addressed.

The heal isn't the real issue with Spiderman....his efficient stuns are. When his stun inevitably gets nerfed (as it should) OBW won't take over for him. While OBW is a very good character and is likely overused currently that's balanced out by the fact that she dies if you look at her.
  • I love fighting Spidey teams. It's like 3 vs 2.

Target him first or bring your own Spidey and wait for him to throw out the first cobweb, then stun lock the entire opposing team.

You have to have some horrific tile luck to get stunlocked by an AI Spidey.
  • I can't remember the last time I've seen him outside of a PvE event. He's great for an occasional sub to get off a heal, but competitively, it's like shooting yourself in the foot. Many more options are quickly becoming available that are rendering him a liability.

On principle, I don't play FotM characters. They are that way most of the time for a reason: because they are potentially the strongest character, which most times defeats the purpose of using any sort of strategy.

As for luck, well, this is PQ. And bad luck does happen with these games. However, I can deal with bad luck. My special tile gets inadvertently put into a ready made match? Well, that's the roll of the dice. But having bad luck with (arguably) the most potent ability in the game being usable on a whim makes for some serious irritation. Being stunlocked doesn't necessarily mean bad luck, it just happens because of how the game operates. It's not a perma stun, but having to not be able to play for longer than what Venom's all team stun allows just goes against the notion of this being a mobile pick up and play a match type game.

And tbh, no characters sole threat should come from its mirror.

Every pvp event I have entered recently has had level 100+ spideys on the enemy team. Usually paired with same level patchs.

I still see Spidey on ~lvl 85-100 teams a lot, probably because those players don't have the covers for Punisher+Patch icon_question.gif

Exactly. I think once you break out of that tier, you start seeing him less and less. Around those levels, your MMR is typically pretty high and your fighting 100+ teams. Spidey is the crutch used to beat those opponents, particularly with PvE. Once you get past that point though, his usefulness fades.
