Help me understand current scaling

So, last night I played my second bit for the current Hulk subs. I had barely gotten any time to fight any mission earlier as they were mostly 170 level opps so fights took more strategy/time with my high 2*s and sub 80 2*s (although fully covered). During that play last night the opps were again lvl 170+ but I spent a couple hours working at least once through on all missions. I made sure I wrapped up about 10 hours before the end so I could start another round this morning. I got as high as top 10 in my subs, but was barely sub 10k in main (didnt have time for the first subs).

So I go in to do my clears this morning and most opps are sub 60....what did I do right/wrong?

Right now I don't think anyone fully understands the current scaling, as there are too many variables:

    1. Personal scaling. Your win/loss against individual nodes will influence the levels of the enemies you face there, but it seems like this isn't weighted heavily right now. Possibly because so many were tanking against enemies as nauseam in TaT and Simulator to drop their levels. It seems like since ISO-8 BroHo this is a minor variable.

    2. Community scaling. How the player base as a whole is performing against a node will influence levels. This is probably the most likely reason, IMO, for why you see levels drop suddenly. Loads of players make a push against a 3x230 node and die, levels drop for everyone. Boost cost being so prohibitive really feeds into this as well I think.

    3. Roster strength/level. Seen some theories about fighting against enemies with lower leveled teams keeping enemy levels lower, while others think that overall roster strength/depth also influence scaling. There's really no compelling data to prove or disprove if/how much this impacts enemy levels. I doubt we'll see any either, because it's nearly impossible to isolate this variable from the others.

    4. PvE MMR. Other theories hold that we each have a persistent MMR that is distinct from our PvP MMR. This would carry over from event to event. No-one knows if that MMR is based on placement in main/sub brackets, or on win/loss ratios in. PvE matches.

Without any kind of proof, I'm inclined to think that 2&4 probably have the most weighting overall, as I've consistently placed highly, and have seen nothing but 3x230s for about a month. The exceptions being really tough nodes that the community gets chewed up by. Those occasionally drop as low as 200 for me. But there is no ironclad formula, or way to effectively game the scaling system that I know of yet.
  • Far as I can tell the scaling works in a fairly intuitive way. The stronger your roster is the stronger the enemy is, and the better you do in general the harder stuff are. Sometimes it gets out of whack and everything becomes 230 which is why they need to reset it (or not) but I really haven't found anything weird about fighting stuff in the level 180 range with my roster. If anything it's a bit too easy given how overpowered Black Panther is.

WYP, thanks! Those are kind of what I understood but only one (32) can even begin explain a 100+ level drop in opps after grinding out victories (with only 2 wipes in multiple passes through easy & hard) so I felt like I was missing something.
