Civil War Questions During Leadup - Alliance/Roster Planning

This will be an alliance event where it sounds like the decisions that we make will impact the way in which the event plays out for our alliance, possibly impacting the rewards that we're going for.

We'll of course be able to discuss things once it releases and we see how the first round plays out, but this is a worldwide game, and many alliances have members in very different timezones. People who may not be awake for the opening of the event should have an informed voice in how their alliance approaches the event.

I understand that the mechanics may still be in flux, but there are some general questions that I'd really like to know at least a day or two in advance of the event, even if the answers are vague.

1) What impact will our choice of sides have on the overall alliance progress? Will our alliance be penalized if players choose different teams? Specifically:

1a) Will there be separate Team Cap progression points and Team Iron Man progression points? If so, will it be possible to hit maximum progression on both? If not, will all progression go towards a single point pool?

1b) Will there be a difference in available rewards based on your choice of team?

2) It sounds like this will be similar in structure to Ultron/Galactus, with a main boss node and side nodes to reset the main boss node. If so, please consider clarifying:

2a) Will clearing a boss stage (if present) unlock all side nodes for the next boss stage, or will the side nodes remain locked until their periodic reset?

2b) Have any other changes been made to the way that the side nodes, main node, and periodic resets work?

The above information would allow alliances to plan for the event. Some large alliance families may want to split people into Cap teams and Iron Man teams, and temporary alliances may also rise up for this purpose. If we can plan a little bit in advance, it would be very appreciated and would allow us to set both alliance and individual expectations as best we can.

If anyone else has any similar questions (especially those that can be answered without giving away spoilers or surprises), please add them below.

Will this also be a locked in alliance event like Ultron and Galactus?

Time will tell for certain, but I believe it will. There's no way to make alliance score progression rewards work properly otherwise.

I assumed this would be the case. Problem is, they mentioned the node being locked on one side if it was cleared on the other side. Therefore, to get both progress rewards, you would have to split the alliance down to 10 for team cap and 10 for team stark. If max progress is anywhere close to Ultron, you really need all 20 members on the same team

Exactly. Assumptions have come back to bite alliances in the **** in these new boss events.

If there are seperate paths, it seems like the best thing might be to go all 20 on one side, hit max progression, and then swap to the other side. But if there are separate individual progression points for Team Cap and Team Iron Man, you might end up in a situation where some of the players need to pick between points that help the alliance (e.g., Team Iron Man points once you hit full Team Cap progression), and points that help the team (Team Cap points to hit your goal even though they don't help the alliance).

There's a healthy dose of paranoia in my posts, I'll grant that. But the developers have been coy about changed mechanics in the past, and people have been impacted by that lack of communication.

We don't need to know everything, but we do need to know the rules of the game.

According to a post that Kabir made in the MPQ subreddit, we're getting a big ol' FAQ tomorrow.

I hope they're planning to put it here, and not just dump it on reddit.

You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum & villany. I wouldn't post here if MPQ was my game either.

I don't see the need for gloom and doom here. The event is being run twice (a week inbetween, I think?) Alliance-wise, it's pretty safe to plan for team A on the first one and team B the second. Given the previous boss events, if you've got a rogue doing something else you're not going to get to max progression here. Especially if they manage to lock out a node. Seems like troll heaven - mind the mercs, people.

I'd also be curious to know if there's any chance of an extended (as in, more than Monday-Thursday) off-season from PvP while this event goes on. Lots of burn out going around.....
