Is it fair to wait?

With Civil War and Doctor Strange movies coming out soon we will (very likely) finally get characters people have been wanting in the game for a very long time (Winter Solider and Doctor Strange). But is it fair to hold off on highly demanded characters just for cross-promotional purposes? I mean, it's one thing if said movie was just a few months down the line, but some movies are years away, who knows where the game will even be by then.
Thoughts? Are there any specific characters you suspect are being held out on you? For me The Wasp comes to mind, or Medusa/Black Bolt (who's movie seems to be in limbo right now).

Yes, it's fair. At the blistering rate characters are being released very soon there will be no more high demand characters left. So it makes good sense to hold some back. Besides, they need to start focusing on new content to go with some of these new characters so if it takes longer its good for everybody. Would you rather Doctor Strange was released in the 4077th rerunning of Dark Avengers Heroic or in a new PvE like Howard was?0

This complaint sort of goes hand-in-hand with the heavy release schedule they keep. For as many characters they pop out many of them feel like characters that should probably been on the short list on being added as content and the work that was done on characters that no one was really asking for could have instead been used to add some that were. To be clear, I'm talking about basing characters on the value of the characters alone, regardless of how they turn out mechanically. Did we really need a Quake? Another Punisher? As much as I enjoyed Howard being added to the game and the event that came with him there certainly was more then a fair share of groans over him being put into the game before the event even started. I very well might be an oddity in this but I much rather would get and use a character I'm a fan of that was merely okay then a character I have no personally investment in even if it was mechanically groundbreaking. If it was just a matter them putting more time into the big characters and/or the events that they come out in that would be different, I mean considering how people complain about to many characters being put out as is I'm even sure that if they slowed the pace down to one really good character a month (or longer even) rather then one 'eh' character every two weeks people would be grateful, but that really doesn't seem to be the case.
I mean, Marvel has a huge roster to work through. Running out of in demand characters seems like an extremely moot point as it would probably take years just to top off the current in-demand list alone.
EDIT: Or in simpler terms: We are getting tons of characters already regardless of demand. If they insist on putting out so many I would rather they focus on ones being asked for rather then ones they can use as ads.0 -
With the way they have been releasing characters in thev4* tier I think they should really re think what * tier they release. If they went to a schedule of 2* 3* 4* and 5* you would still get a new character every other week, but you would fill out each tier more evenly.for high end players who don't care about 2* they can skip thst character and they could even skip the 3* character if they wanted too.
It would allow people to catch up on the ISO grind for characters as well.
Another option is to rebalance a week character and do a re-release instead of just a new character. Look at the 3* characters what if they moved Mystique back to what she used to be or better you could re-release her and have players want to play for her covers. Or make Mr F or Cho better and re-run a PVE for them. If every once in a while they gave out more 4 * for an event it would not kill them0 -

'Fair' is not really relevant. Since they pretty much have to take what Marvel gives them, they're basically shackled to Marvel's release schedule as far as most major characters are involved. Just about every release is tied to a new movie or a new comic coming out. Anything other than that is the exception, not the rule.0

Yep, they have to bow down to the corporate overlords.
Although since "new characters" are the only thing that seems to be added to the game these days, it seems that the corporate overlords expect the public/players to simply slobber over any little tidbits whenever they drop them on the floor anyway.0 -
I can't wait for the Hindsight Lad movie to come out. I dont think it's fair to have to wait for the theatrical release. I can just see how his powers would work in MPQ already.
Pre-Nerf cost 8AP
With his powers of reflection on past mistakes Hindsight Lad reverts his team mates back to their glorious pre-nerf selves.
Told you so...: Passive
Wonder if you make a match it will lead into an AI super cascade? No more, Hindsight Lad will show you the optimal match three every turn.

Unfortunately they will never go with my idea it would make too many players happy. They are more likely to start releasing two 5* a month instead of two 4*. On the bright side since you can only get 5* through RNGthe grind of PVE will go down.0 -

While 5*s are RNG only, I can't imagine that the PVE grinding will go down much because PVE will remain one of the best sources of CPs. you might see more people grinding to the 25cp prog reward and then stopping, but thanks to the presumably upcoming PVE changes that will take more grinding that it used to. and there will still be more than 10 people who need/want 4* covers in every event.0 -

I mentioned this before but considering since I started playing that they had character suggestion surveys twice, I would really like to see that data and see just what characters people want to see in the game the most. If the character release is all done by strict mandate why would they bother asking us in the first place?0 -

Actually several forummites have posted similar abilities, like the pre-nerf and I-told-you-so. Some of them, including me, have won something from the competition.
I guess many players really want to see the glorious past.0
