I'd actually be in favor of more Jerk Nodes if you could get covers from them (I'm looking at you, Inner Space Cadet). In a lot of ways, 4* DDQ is this sort of puzzle design, in which there's a good balance of effort to reward. Unfortunately, 4* DDQ also has a barrier to entry in that you have to have a critical mass of covers already to succeed.

Ha! Yeah the first node with Luke Cage was particularly brutal, because all the characters had very weak offense, so your only two options were imaginaut and cstorm's wind storm (although cstorm generally died from luke's uppercut).

The second one wasn't nearly as bad, because without LC's protect tile, it's much easier to down the opponents.

How about the Mr. Fantastic essential node on day two? Your opponents: Carnage, Doc Ock, and Ultron. Yay enemy spamming attack tiles. Bah.

This one has been pretty easy with OML/XDP, let carnage get a few instincts off, enough to trigger enforcer, but not more than OML can heal.. and the other team suicides..

just like a year ago the answer to everything was IF, OML could be the answer for everything, yes, if only he was earnable. for those without OML, I've been using jean mostly. witch is pretty risky there if the tiles surrounding her cd get filled with attacks (her cd becomes useless), but I've been using witch. could use im40 too. not much purple out of it, but the green is put to good use.
