Tiebreaker?

Twice this week, I've found myself 1 rank out of a prize bracket in the dying moments only to look at the rankings to find myself tied in points with the person above me.
What determines who comes out on top in these situations?

    Whoever reaches the total last is placed top.

    I was sixth in a recent tournament in which I was tied with 4th and 5th. That was a real heartbreaker.

    I had been shielded for the better part of the last few hours, though, so my suspicion is that the person who earns the tying score last bumps down the person who had it first. Just conjecture, mind.

    That's a bummer. In one of the instances, I literally checked the scoreboard after I had won a round and I was still below the person I was tied with.
    If only I had waited 10 seconds to make my last match...
