Advice on roster - transitioning from 3* to 4*

Hello icon_e_smile.gif

I'd like some advice on my roster progression.

First, a few words about my profile:
- I'm on day 228 (i.e. almost 8 months)
- I don't plan on spending money on anything for now
- I usually find the time to grind PvEs and make top 50 regularly
- I don't know how to properly grind PvPs for progression rewards (800 and above) and I don't like to spend HP on shields that much, unless it's to ensure a good placement by shielding in the last 3 hours and getting 50 HP back for my 75 HP investment
- I like to maximise my number of roster slots and have a collector's mentality

Now, the roster:
- I have every 3* character rostered, no duplicates. 8 are championed.
- Before the champions update, I had 5 max-level 2* characters and most of my 3* characters were under-covered (not needing any ISO). I made the mistake of investing into more 2* characters for champion rewards, using a lot of the ISO I had accumulated. I championed two more 2* and rostered 2 more. When one of these last two reached level 50 I stopped investing ISO in them because of my 3* needs.
- I just started getting 4* covers. Right now I have rostered Howard, XFDeadpool, and Flaptain. I recognize that Howard and Flaps are suboptimal characters.
- I have 54 occupied slots: 40 3* guys + 7 2* champions + 2 fully-covered underleveled 2* + 3 1-covered 4* guys + 1 temporary slot for PvE 2* essential character + Juggernaut
- I have 3 covers waiting for a potential slot: Ghost Rider, Invisible Woman, The Thing.
- I have accumulated 347 CP and I'm patiently waiting to have more slots to start opening LTs.
- I'm also sitting on about 30 DDQ tokens.

This should give you an idea of the current situation. I don't want to get rid of any 3* character or 2* champion, erasing the underleveled 2*s would be a lost investment (i.e. I could consider it but it'd hurt, then again I'm probably not championing them anytime soon). Juggs is also obviously untouchable as my only 1*.

Replacing Flaptain and Howard with other 4*s is an option, actually I'm probably keeping Howard for essential missions in the next days then selling him when Duck Season is over.

Out of the tokens waiting for a decision, I'm leaning towards keeping the Thing and Ghost Rider and selling IW. That means I need to free two slots.

Should I try to keep as many 4* as I can or should I only focus on average-to-good ones? Should I bother rostering 5*s if I happen to open one? What would you guys recommend?

Thanks icon_e_biggrin.gif

I would say wait a little before you start chasing 4*s (i.e. don't open LTs yet). your roster is not too far from being ready, but I think you need some more 3* champs before you risk rostering a 5*. not sure which champs you have, but most start with the top tier guys. any of fist/cyke/cage/cmags/hood/loki/witch/im40/panther/kk/steve are all no brainers. I think daken/gsbw/torch/hulk/thor are worth it too. then the blade/grocket/doom/gamora/marvel/patch group can be personal preferences. get a good group of 12-15 champs and you can then start opening LTs for 4*s. my thinking is that if you'll likely have 2-3 boosted characters in the mid-200s anyway, rostering a level 255 - 5* won't affect much in way of pve scaling. pve is the main part of your game and you don't want to do anything to jack that up.

also, by then (12-15 top champs) you'll have added some hp for slots and can afford to start rostering them - others will likely be pulled from event/heroic tokens. paring down your 2*s is a good idea (I've kept 5 - storm/ares/obw/thor/mnmags). I think your plan for rostering thing and GR is exactly what I'd do. although, keep in mind - if the IW is yellow, her ddq battle can be won (to add an LT) with 1 yellow cover alone (with some skill and luck).

Thanks a lot for the advice. Yeah, I am going to wait a little bit more until I start opening LTs.

My champs are mostly not top tier guys actually - they just happen to be the best ones among those for which I have had the luck to get 13 covers: GSBlack Widow, Thor, Dr. Doom, Deadpool, Hulk, She-Hulk, Squirrel Girl, Human Torch. I have a few fully-covered 3* that I'm not planning on championing any time soon: Spider-Man, Mohawk Storm, Punisher, Daredevil, Gamora. Unfortunately I haven't had too much luck with the top tier 3*s so far. For these reasons, I suppose I might need to wait a while still...

So for now I'll follow your advice and scrap some 2*s: the two that are not championed should go and maybe C. Marvel which is already at level 144 - I will not get any more champion rewards with her, so if I really need the slot I might let her go too. For now, I'm freeing the two 2* slots for Thing and Ghost Rider and I'll also sell Flaptain for IW which happens to be yellow as you said. If I'm keeping a mostly useless 4*, might as well have a shot at the DDQ Clash of the Titans.

    Thanks!

How did you get 347 Command Points???? I have 20 and I feel lucky.

I guess mostly due to PvE and to the fact that I have never actually spent a single CP. It has been 18 days since this post and I'm now sitting at 462 CP, which means an average of a little over 6CP/day in the last few weeks.

I usually get my CP from the top progression award in PvE (25 per event) and I also try and beat the two nodes that have 1CP rewards in each PvE sub until I get that. So the best scenario would be a 3-day PvE with 3 subs of 24h in which I have the essential 4*: that's likely 31 CP in 3 days.

First piece of advice, if you need to make room for any tier it should be favouring 4* over 2* you can get by with very few 2*s if you have some decent 3*.

Personally I keep cstorm mnmags and obw and that's it. I sold everyone else when I started accumulating 3s

2* covers are easy to come by so rplacing them later (if you're a collector) is much easier than replacing 4s.

Don't ever roster cho or sue storm as they are genuinely a waste of time and are actually more valuable as 1k iso.

Don't sell Falcap The forum doesn't like him but he's good f9r pve once covered and levelled. Howard I would say can go if you really want to sell a 4* his event will come round once a year.

Based on your roster description I'd agree that you should wait to transition until you have 3cyke fist and cage champed first. I transitioned too early and it made my transition harder.

Last and final tip - don't put iso into 4* unless you have at least 9 covers in key areas (Falcap for example need at least 3 blue and 5 red) the iso is better spent on your 3* for now
