    Noob brackets. Tank pvp and pve events until a 4* character you want becomes top reward for pve and pvp. Of course for pve you will still need to compete with people with the same idea, and fighting for top 1 for the 4th cover will still be difficult. As for pvp, i have gotten noob brackets where #2 was only 800pts, and I prejoined the event.

    You mentioned that there are Line chat rooms for pvp, how do you get invited to them? Also are there pve bracket chats as well? My line id is oni_alpha. I'm reading that line is the preferred method of communication and has an equally large user group for mpq.

    I'm not the OP, but I'm in a similar situation. Thanks to all for posting advice here.

    A number of people have said that it's possible, although not trivial, to climb to 1000 in PvP with a 3* team. Could anyone chime in with more specifics about that? I'm not concerned about the shielding strategy -- I think I have that. I'd like to know more, though, about exactly how you take down the typical 4* teams that are out there. Are there specific pairings of 3* characters that work well against the 4* teams that are the most common? As it is I'm finding it almost impossible to do that initial climb to 800, much less hop-jump-skip up to 1000 from there. But it could be I'm missing some tricks that would make it easier.

    So what do you use against Jean Gray / Hulkbuster?

    Hulkbuster / Iron Fist?

    Other common 4* teams?
