Black Panther Excitement!

I've spent way too much time in the currant PvE Iso-8 Brotherhood, but tonight's the night.

I was in the top 10 for most of the week but then I had to miss a day and I'm now around 20. I'm so excited to play with Black Panther.

I've really enjoyed this episode. The fights have gotten progressively harder and I've been introduced to some unusual enemy combos (for better or worse). Also, I enjoyed the story progression (although really slow in general). I don't think I'll be putting in this kind of time commitment any time soon though. It's been grueling.

Also, since I'm in EU I decided to do an intense early push in the Fresh Cut event to guarantee myself at least one more cover. I got my 8 hour shield up and praying that my 500+ points will be enough.

How have you enjoyed this event and how hyped are you for Black Panther.

I'm pumped, but am disappointed that he has a tournament so soon. I understand their reasons (let people buy Black Panther if they want him; money keeps the game afloat), but I'd prefer a tournament or two of various characters (no holds barred, women only, etc.) with more Psylocke or Black Panther as rewards so we can let it fly before we put him to the test.

Curious as to the rewards on this one. I'm hoping for more villain covers; those seem to get people more excited about PvP tournaments and my villains are all pretty low.

This is somewhat mitigated by how they're giving BP covers are rewards to the Fresh Cut tournament going on right now.
  • There's going to be some nasty fallout if they didn't nerf his black before he goes live, because what's going to happen is you'd have people dump a ton of iso/HP into an ability that does 4922 damage to the entire team at level 141 and then it'd get nerfed to half of that damage later when D3 realized that damage means anyone who isn't IM40, Ragnarok, or Hulk immediately dies when Black Panther hits 12 black.

Do abilities always scale in exactly the same fashion? There is a slim chance that BP's black scales a lot slower than GSBW, and so wouldn't do that much damage at max rank.

Well I just calculated it based on how much his damage at level 15 as a % of his health at level 15, and then scaled it to level 141 based on his health at level 141. I thought damaging abilities and total HP is supposed to scale linearly, since it wouldn't make sense if it did not, but you never know.

His ability really shouldn't even do more damage than Ballistic Salvo let alone Sniper Rifle. I'd pretty much always prefer to give 5 AP to the enemy than having the ability cost 5 more AP, but if his black simply cost 5 more, at 17 black it'd still be better than Ballistic Salvo (20 blue) even if they had the same base damage, and again giving 5 AP is much better than just having the ability cost 5 more because there are a lot of ways to work around the former while if something simply cost 5 more AP, that's rather hard to get around.

I absolutely love T'Challa, so I'm looking forward to having him on my roster. But, really, who has the ISO to level yet another character? Still working on getting my core team to a respectable 3* level (Patch/Hulk/Spidey), while trying to keep my other characters at a competitive level for tourneys.

I *really* hope he's the last character for a while.

Most people do not, but there's going to be someone who spends some outrageous amount of HP/iso to get him to level 141 (like the guys who have Psylocke at level 141). Unlike Psylocke, he's definitely way overpowered too if his damage really extrapolates from his level 15 stats, so there's even greater incentive to max him out, and you're talking about very high likelihood of significant $ involved here, so I hope they got his damage right before he goes live or the fallout will be pretty spectucular. There's no way you'll have a guy who can basically one shot an entire team with 12 black as long as they're not tanks, and is a tank at the same time. It's not as crazy as pre nerf Ragnarok, but it's pretty close.
  • Personally I don't have a problem with new characters being more powerful. If that wasn't the case, they're just release irrelevant characters that people wouldn't want to have. Having to change characters regularly always create some progression or treadmill.

I assume we'll soon be seeing a move to 4 star heroes too.

    And people complain about P2W...

New characters are supposed to add variety, not totally eclipse anyone before them. I checked a level 15 GSBW cover and Sniper Rifle does 355 damage at level 15 at 1g, and I'm pretty sure it only gets 2 damage upgrade of 25% (2 other upgrade increase target size and allows it to hit the whole team), so I don't see how it can possibly pass up Black Panther who has a reported 645 damage at level 15 at 5 black. I'm quite sure Sniper Rifle doesn't double in base damage from 1g to 5g (it gains 200% damage for hitting the whole team at level 5 but that doesn't change the base damage). It's okay if some characters are strong versus certain type of characters, but there's nothing situational about an ability that pretty much kills anyone that isn't a tank for 12 black.

I'm not sure If I like BP yet but the art is just awesome- his profile and the avatar by his power are both really cool.

That is the definition of power creep, a disease that kills games
