Enemy Of The State: Scaling Feedback

Didn't find a place for this yet, so I guess I'll post herr.

I was looking forward to some new scaling ever since I accidentaly icon_e_wink.gif got my first 5*.

My roster is basically still in 3* covering. I got my 2*s, but only like 4 3*s Fully covered and properly levelled. However I got 2 5* phoenixes and one 5* Goblin. The rest of my roster has little ability to be played because:

My scaling sucks balls! In PVP I am forced to use my same 3*s time and again, being tossed against enemys about double my level and 2-3x my HP. In PVE I can barely pass goons above level 200, or beroes above 190. Unless I use HPs and all AP boosts every(!) battle, so this means for 10 HPS I can play about 12-13 PVP fights or 13-15 PVE fights.

I was hoping this changed, but just on my first try on the last Node (nowhere to run) the aecond iteration already means LVL 203 goon&wolverine. I can only see this working out by draining HPs and boost again.

This all defeats my ability to ever reach the point threshold for progression, both in terms of time due to HP respawn and also in terms of Ranking because I am slotted apprently with people who have a better roster to deal with the nodes.

I really hate to be so punished by having a few 5* covers. icon_e_sad.gif

How about being able to "lock away" specific people of my roster? I cannot use them until they are covered: when I keep them they screw up my scaling, if I sell them I can never progress.

Please really think about a better way to improve my roster - current scaling lets me stick forever in 2* territory...

So, that's my two whining cents. icon_e_smile.gif

If it makes you feel better, my pve scaling sucks as well. Each match takes forever and kills all my characters. And I have all my 3*s champ'd, a few 4*s champ'd, as well as a lv 405 oml (which raises my scaling, yet I'm not allowed to use icon_twisted.gif ).

I don't think anyone was complaining that scaling was too Easy. Because that's the only problem that's been solved with this pve update.
  • My Scaling has been wonderful. I am lower level, working on 2*'s but the game is not so insanely hard anymore. Its much more enjoyable now

what's your average number of covers on your 2* roster?

The same thing appears to be happening up and down the ability curve if it makes you feel better. It feels like my scaling is keying off of my OML - who I am not allowed to even use for the first 3 (or is it 4) subs of this event.

    copied post from eots thread:

seems like having no 5*s makes that somehow playable.
since i ignore/sell every 5* and have no useable 4*, my highest character is a 178 hulk.
my last node (wolvie, kishu, shinobi) is now lvl 262 after the 6th clear (can see the timer now)

    my problem:
i have no ghost rider and refuse to roster cpt marvel, so i dont even try for any kind of placement.
after getting the second CP from the wolverine/hands node i see no point in doing it again for the last reward of 100 iso.

so, while not having the immense scaling and being able to hit most nodes several times and still have health packs left, there is no motivation for me to keep playing.
the rewards are a joke, i get 70/100/250 iso from playing a single seed team in any pvp and that takes one minute.
    [...]
In some circumstances, it could be disadvantageous to level characters, or to add a high-level character to your roster. Now, the game will take into account both your heroes’ power levels and heroes’ levels into account when establishing the difficulty of the mission.
    [...]
really had to double check if we are talking about the same game or if i somehow got lost in the MtGPQ or ATPQ boards.
    i didnt.
still not sure if we play the same game. clearly i have an easier time with my 5*-free roster than most people are describing with 5*s and well developed 4*s

I'm only on the second mission of the second mission of the story and my heroes are getting tore up. All three had lost about one third of their hit point by the end of the first round and it's a four round battle.

I just recently got my three star Hulk to level 127. I think I have 7 two star champions. I also have two five star characters with one cover, that I'd like to keep for future possible use, but would be useless in a four round battle (in their current state).

For my part I am not enjoying the scaling. I feel I will play the game less icon_cry.gif . That's not a "Wahhh", I simply mean that before I would finish all 7 goes at each mission to get all the rewards. Now with scaling that's a lot harder so I will play less missions. According to Steam I have played this 1566 hours icon_e_smile.gif I cannot but feel a little cynical that this change comes on the back of the positive change to ensure you always got one of the mission rewards, but now it seems someone has decided that was to much "carrot" so take this "stick"
  • This new scaling thing is ****! I can't even get past the wave battle (second mission) in this event. Every time I try, I get manhandled like a hooker at an orgy. My best team ends the FIRST wave with less then half of their HP left, and I have to battle 3 more waves.

Hell, even before this event started, I've found that while the Trivial mission were a breeze to beat, the easy missions were getting harder to beat. Normally, I would be able to whiz past the Trivial and Easy missions. Normal missions would be a bit harder and then you have Hard and Deadly missions where I would get my butt kicked around like I have been in the Simulator and the Enemy of the State events.

Trivial means extra easy (1* characters should be able to beat this no problem)
Easy means EASY (2* and above should be able to whiz through these)
Normal means Normal (2* should have a bit of difficulty, but 3* should kick ****)
Hard means Hard and (3* and above should have a hard time, but with luck, should be able to beat)
Deadly means Deadly. (4* and 5* characters only should be used)

This is how it was before, at least it's what it felt like to me. I've actually had fun playing this game up to the last 2 events. Now I can't get past Easy missions even with 2* championed characters and some high level 3*.

Please fix this. Make this game fun to play again.

    Thanks.
  • I still dont understand the issues everyone seams to be having. Ive talked with other players that have better rosters than I and they are having no issues. Its a big change but i really like it, i dont have to play at certain times anymore, its great. I have a full time job that i work OT at and other stuff to do out of work and i still get everything i want done , done.

8000 dmg from meteor hammer... at least i finally know, how could we kill maxed 5* heroes-with this scalling, they can be defeated pretty easily.
Scalling is cruel, at least for me.
PS: All useful covers i have are maxed 3* covers.
PPS: Oh and Thing seems to be very useful, even on low level like mine icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • I also find that I am getting ripped to shreds. I have one 5* and now he's making things even harder than he already was, just by existing.

    Boooo!

Yeah, the new scaling is definitely causing me to play less. I have one OML cover (which I can't use in Enemy of the State) and one Silver Surfer blue cover. These seem to be causing my later missions to start at or near level 200, so if I don't get a Champion point by my third playthrough I have ZERO chance of getting it.

The rest of my usable roster is 3*, and I only have a couple of maxed covers, but this scaling system doesn't seem to take that into account. It just thinks that since I have two 5* I must be a bad@$$ (which I AM, of course, just not THAT bad@$$! icon_e_wink.gif

Please reverse the scaling and make this game playable again! I haven't spent a lot of money on it, but I've spent enough to feel bitter that I'm being forced to cut back.
  • The scaling is awfull. I begin to fight against level366 and to win in the best case : 200 iso after 2 or 3 win level 410 or more.
If I fight this kind of enemy I wait better reward. If the reward is not well balanced with my investment, I have no motivation to do this.
With this sort of fight I consume a lot of heal for poor reward. No interest !
I play PVE not for PVE ranking reward but for isofarming with this new scale system too much effort for nothing.

Personally i'm still on the fence in regards to the update. The rewards are nice ( tokens for the last mission) , but i'm not going to fight a 192 gorgon/wolv combo for 100 iso. The overall rewards of the event aren't very desirable for me other than the reward tokens. I personally enjoy the Galactus events, Growth Industry and the Gauntlet ones best.
  • I sort of understand the idea behind scaling but i have to say that i dont like it and it reduces my desire to play the game and here's why.

    1. The scaling itself is way too aggresive it quickly makes the simplest of mission unplayable, perhaps reduce the increments to 1 or 2 levels instead of 7 to 9. (Also look at the ability of npcs that are less than 1/2 the level of a tea to inflict serious damage on the team).

    2. The level scaling increments per successful completion of a step (i hope) , i think it should be time based after each successful completion a timer should start , each time the stage is completed the timer should reset, but with a lower counter , for example the first timer starts at 6hrs, second 5hrs, third 4hrs , fourth 2hrs and so on. Obviously the timers would need to be scaled for each step in a stage in an event.

This way a feel that the casual and lower power players wont be negatively be affected as much and the scaling is more in their control.

I've been enjoying the new system for many reasons. You don't need to have perfect timing and come back to play every 8 hours. That wears me out. You can just play whenever you want, for nearly as long as you want.

My roster is balanced; I've been keeping everyone at the same level and that has seemingly benefitted me in this event. It seems like this new system was meant to give everyone a fair chance at a high placement. That way, people who are loaded up on 5*'s and 4*'s can't just mow through everything so easily and always get the top spots.

My only constructive feedback was that they've chosen the wrong event to test this. It should have been a 3-4 day event, not a 7 day'er. Especially this one which has those annoying enemy types over and over with their caltrops and meteor hammers.
  • DyingLegend,

I agree with the way you'd love to see things changed in and within the game itself, and more changes in the game that would be more closely to the same ways that they are, when there is a big boss event such as the Ultron or Galactus boss events, right?

Also, I really/seriously "LOVE" Galactus, himself......I am, Mrs.Galactus in the game and in real life as well. icon_e_biggrin.gificon_e_biggrin.gificon_e_biggrin.gifcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcardpack.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.pngcharged.png
