The other Simulator: making top progression in early season

If I wanted to avoid the mad season-end crush of maniacal progression-seekers and tried to get to 2000 much earlier, is that a strategy that should be limited to a mature 4* roster? I.e. would I run out of high-value and beatable targets pretty quickly?

    can I hazard a guess as to how long this will remain in general chat before it's moved to "making top progression in early season" sub-forum or some such?

    I'm at 1400ish and I'm only seeing 29-32 point fights. Occasional 40 pointer but it's 2 5* and champed 4*. I've only got 2 4* at 270. I usually float around 1500 until a week is left and then give it a go.
