4* roster - who to level

I have only 4* cyc maxed & champed and he needs a buddy. Unfortunately, my iceman and rhulk are not close. JG is at her level cap while I wait for 3 more covers. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out where to best spend my iso, here's the notables:

Carnage - 195 4/4/5
XF Wolv - 190 4/5/4
Kingpin - 170 4/4/5
XF DP - 170 5/4/3
Iceman - 150 3/2/4
Antman - 141 5/1/5
Thing - 141 3/3/4
Thoress - 130 5/4/4
Fury - 120 5/4/4

Everyone else is at 6-7 covers or less and lvl 120 or less. I've been reading about how awesome Thoress is with IM40, but that seems incredibly redundant when the only maxed 4 I have shares the same colors. So, is it worth working toward maxing any of the above or should I just work toward leveling several of them to 200 or so to take advantage of the weekly boosts? I'm leaning toward the second option even though it means burning more covers for non-maxed heroes.

I'm not a grinder anymore, especially this time of year (60+ hrs of work per wk right now), so I don't have the luxury of wasting resources. Not than any non-whale really does. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

thoress/im40 is great - with a good green user (or possibly with a 5purple kp). if a featured character has a decent green and one of either black or purple, i'll definitely consider running im40/4thor, especially if one or both are boosted. however, I think the im40/4thor combo's pvp days will be limited in normal pvp play (featured+2).

I might just hoard iso for now until one of the big3 purple/green characters gets up to speed. by then you might be able to instamax them when one hits, but you never know which one will get the pulls. eventually characters like 4thor and xpool make sense, but I wouldn't want to start with those.

Thanks Tx, hoarding is what I've been doing, it's just very tempting to spend it. Especially on weeks like this when Fury is boosted and I have him fully covered (though not optimal) sitting at 120.

fury can be ok, but can be slow at time.s he'd be a decent blue to be fed by im40 though. seems like all I do now is see who im40 can feed. rankings say fury would not be wise, but I also say level who you like playing with (or at least who you're effective playing with). truthfully I rarely see any fury in pvp. people just don't play him and my guess is its like that for a reason. to me thoress or kp or xpool (I know you're just one short there) would be much better. heck, I've heard that kp/im40/thoress are crazy good with kp at 5 purple. kp feeds im40 feeds thoress kills everyone. I'd resist fury if I were you icon_e_wink.gif if you really need to pour some into someone, pick a mid-tier, not a lower-tier.

This is my exact dilemma and I am leaning the same way. Anyone care to share their opinion on which strategy is better? I've always preferred even levelling and wonder if it's time to abandon it here. My one concern is the increase in mmr difficulty from maxing a small number of 4*s and not having the roster to handle it until I get more 4* maxed.

I'm not sure I can speak to which is better but I can tell you what I experienced.

I maxed out Jeanbuster after I bought them their final covers in early December. My next closest 4* at the time was 4Thor at 165. I really didn't see a huge difference in PVE scaling or PVP matchmaking. I had multiple 5*s sitting at 255 already and my 3*s were being boosted fairly high. The only thing I found was that it was a hell of a lot easier to actually hit 1K after that.

covered 4s at 200 help in pve, boosted or not. an elite 4 at 200 boosted might help some in pvp, but everyone else will have them champed, so I think the main benefit would be pve, giving you more options for the harder nodes and essentials.

I would tend to agree with this. Getting my few decent 4*'s (GT, Rulk, XFDP) to level 200 helps in PVE. Getting them past level 230 tends to help in PVP but doesn't get you to the highest scores. If you want to regularly aim for 1K+ in PVP then getting a 1-2 top tier 4* to level 270 is ultimately what I think you have to do. Take this from someone who doesn't have any maxxed 4* yet - but I'm working on getting my Rulk there.
