Coercive Field Team Up for AI

Maybe I'm wrong about the team ups the AI gets. As far as I could tell, AI gets a low rank and level version of whichever team-up it has. Even a defending player's team has this; you won't suddenly get hit with 6000 damage from Unibeam team up, but 1300 or so. Is the AI instead getting rank 3 versions? Is that story mode programming? Just asking because Coercive Field by the AI team up keeps overwriting my special tiles, and I didn't think AI got team up with enough ranks to hit special tiles with Coercive Field.
