PvP defense level question

If you win a match in PvP, then level up one of the characters that was on that team (without then winning another match), do opponents see that character as having the level that actually fought in the match, or whatever its live level is?

For example, I just played a match in Magnetic Mayhem, hit 300 tourney points, got a MN Mags cover through the Evil Attraction token, applied that cover to my MN Mags, and leveled him to the new soft cap.

Do opponents see the original level in matchmaking or the new, increased level?

They see whatever team you completed the last match with, at the level you completed it with.
