Where Should My ISO Go? (3*)

"Where Should My ISO Go?" Sounds like a Dr. Seuss book, right?

I'm about to champ my 3* Cyclops, who will be my fifth 3* champ (after Thor, GSBW, Iron Fist and HTorch). After that, I'll be tapped out on ISO, and I'd love some feedback on where to steer my ISO over the next three months.

The most pressing question is a glut of 6 Storm covers queued from recent events. I've got a bunch of fully covered 3's I'd like to champ (see below), and Storm really isn't on my radar. Is she worth it, or should I just sell the covers and save the ISO for more useful characters?

Beyond that, I've organized things into a few tiers. (assume all these are fully covered, or will be soon.) Any thoughts on (a) this order, and (b) how many of these I should champ before starting to steer ISO to my 4's?
  • Very Soon: Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Kamala Khan, Iron Man 40
  • On Deck: Luke Cage, Steve Rogers, Deadpool, Blade
  • Maybe? Daken, Doctor Doom, Magneto, Hood, Rocket & Groot, Hulk, Mystique
  • No Plans: Colossus, Daredevil, Falcon, Gamora, Patch, Psylocke, Ragnarok, She-Hulk, Storm, Vision* (*depends on his revamp)
  • possible 4's (current # of covers): X-Force Wolv (11/13), Prof X (7/13), Iceman (5/13), Hulkbuster (5/13)
(the rest of my 3's are all under 13 covers and lower priority IMO)
Does this seem like a sensible order, or are there any really obvious choices I should re-prioritize?

(*If you're wondering why I have BP prioritized this high, it's because I expect to pick up 3-5 covers from this week's ISO-8 Brotherhood event. I'd already wanted to champ him, so this just moved him to the top of the list.)

yep - the "very soon" bunch sounds like a good plan to me. and cage and steve could even be added to that top bunch. blade can be strong but personally I'd bump deadpool down to that 3rd list.

while I'd put slightly different emphasis on different characters based on my playing style (deadpool down, mystique down, gamora and patch up), the characters you lean on might be a little different than me. overall I think its a solid plan with nothing that sticks out as unwise.

I disagree with Moose in that I think DP is a decent 3*. His Whales!Whales!Whales! is huge sometimes for just spending DP points and whaling difficult nodes in events like the Gauntlet. I really like his red ability too for damage per AP. I pair him with Cage and Switch as one of my go to 3* teams. Blade is a nice useful character that fits into many different teams, especially if you have one that doesn't need red AP to function effectively. Your plan sounds pretty good, I would keep on it. I think an argument can be made for Patch too moving up as his strike tiles can be devastating (especially with Loki) and have won me many matches but as Moose stated depends on your play.

DP's high up on my list mostly out of personal preference. His red is dirt cheap and great for chopping down high-HP enemies. His purple does solid AOE even without the extra whales and his black can occasionally save a teammate low on health. I know he's more of a middle than a top 3*, but I really enjoy playing him and definitely want to champ him at some point.

Whereas I rarely use Luke Cage and Steve Rogers, but know they'll be a lot more useful once champed. Cage and IF are obviously a PVP standard, and once I have IM40 champed, I expect Steve Rogers will become a lot more fun to play.

Thanks for the feedback! I made a lot of dumb mistakes when I started playing, glad to hear maybe I'm on the right track this time. icon_e_smile.gif

It's been a month, and since then I've champed BP, SW and KK. I really like having SW champed, as she's super fun to play teamed up with IF+Cyc.

Now I need to decide who's next. I'm leaning towards IM40, as I have two covers in my queue, but I also have a few Daken covers sitting about, and I like the idea of him as an all-purpose health-pack saver. After that, I might jump on Magneto, Blade, DP or Luke Cage if they turned up as PVE essentials in the next week or two (which for me typically means 4 covers).

I'd like to start thinking about 4*s, but I still don't have enough covers for any of the top-tier 4*s, and I'm kind of wary of the auto-scaling stuff that's being tested and think I want to see how all that shakes out before I start leveling up 4*s.

Man, you're kind of spoiled for choice with your roster. In the long-term IM40 is a wise choice. After his overhaul he's become a go-to battery character and pairs well with a lot of 4*s and AP hungry characters.

Deadpool I'd get up there sooner rather than later. Despite the poor color coverage he pairs well with Switch. (Max level Whales drops for a little above 4k unboosted, 5+k boosted). And you'll start building up Deadpool points, which translates to an instant win button. Basically a must-have for some of the Gauntlet nodes.

Daken is alright, but if you want an all-around health-pack saver Patches or Groot would be a smarter choice.

Everyone you're considering are wise choices. I have all of those characters champed and use them all the time, even unboosted.

Patch is sorta off my radar, because I have an OML with a single yellow cover. He's not that useful for PVP or high-level stuff, but healing for 600 a turn, he's awesome for tanking lowbie nodes and saving health packs. So I'm envisioning pairing him with a champed Daken as a go-to self-healing team for clearing seed teams in lightning nodes and other low-level stuff.

I'm itching for the right opportunity to champ Deadpool. I use him every day for Dat Required Character to build up his points (he's over 86k atm), and expect I'll champ him sometime in the next month.

But I'm 90% sure IM40 will be my next champ, and then I'll play it by ear depending on what the upcoming PVE rewards are. Good to hear I'm at least headed in the right direction. icon_e_biggrin.gif

Another month down, more ISO decisions to make!

    I'm up to a baker's dozen of 3* champs now, and I feel it's a solid group:

In my queue I have Loki x2, Daken x3, Mystique x3 and Hulk x2, all sitting around 110-120 and needing about 100k ISO to level and champ.

While I wouldn't consider it a "waste" to champ those characters, I'm wondering if there are some other 3*s I should level first (Steve Rogers, Blade?), or if the time has come for me to start leveling my 4*s. My prime candidates are XF Wolverine (L130, 5/2/5), IM Hulkbuster (L111, 5/2/4), and Prof X (L111, 1/4/5), with an Iceman (1/1/5) on the verge of usefulness.

I'm itching to level Prof X a little and dabble in a little Charlie's Angels action, but I'm not sure if I should do that now or keep champing 3*s for another month or two. Any thoughts?

I Think it's too soon to start relying on your fourstars. A good rule of thumb is that they need at least 10 covers to be useful, so only Hulkbuster and X-force Wolverine fits that bill. Hulkbuster is definitely someone you want to max eventually, but bringing him up too high will only mess upp your scaling and force you to rely on him all the time (not a good move for a self-damaging character!). Ideally you also want more black covers Before he becomes truly frightening.
Fortunately Professor X does not need to be leveled for Charlie's Angels - it may even hinder him if he has the highest match damage and starts generating blue instead of Purple. What he does need, however, is 5 blue covers so he generates a lot of Purple AP, so you are quite far from a viable Charlie's Angels team.
Overall, I Think just champing the 3* as the covers come in is a fine plan for now. You could bring up Hulkbuster to level 170 or so if you have the ISO to spare, but wait until you have Another top 5 fourstar (Jean Grey, Iceman or Red Hulk) ready to level Before you bring him up higher.

June! Another month in, more decisions to make!

Over the last few weeks, I've champed Daken, Hulk, Steve Rogers and Blade, which I'm really happy about. But now I'm into what I'd consider B- and C-level 3*s, so I'm not sure who I should be champing next.

In the 3* camp, I currently have four covers queued for Vision, along with single covers for Mystique, Storm, Loki and Hood. Any strong thoughts on any of those 3*s?

I'm also thinking I should keep a fair amount of ISO in reserve for June's Crashes of the Titanses. I have 7-10 covers for all of this month's featured 4*s, but they're all around 90-111, so I might need to sink some ISO into them here and there. I'm just starting to turn the corner with the DDQ4* fights, and I really want to beat the next six.

And for some reason, I'm sitting on 15 Bullseyes and Moonstones, the only 2*s I haven't champed yet. But they'd cost me 75k each to level, which seems like a poor investment. But the completionist in me wants to do it.

I'm currently sitting on 140k ISO. Where would you put it?

I'm going to say what pretty much anyone looking at your roster is going to say: Hulkbuster. Yours is usable now and one cover away from being able to champ and respect to the proper 5/5/3. That's one good PVP event or a lucky draw away. Believe you me, there's a reason you see so many Iron Fist - Hulkbuster teams in PVP.

Buuuuut if you're not going that route and you want to stick to 3*s I'd say Vision is an alright option. He's doing a lot better after his buff, and when he's booster his blue is a threat. Plus he's one of the few characters who can seriously modify attack and defense without tons of special tiles. Loki and Hood are good, but they're not star players. You don't need them leveled up to use them, since all you're effectively doing is adding HP to them. I like Mo Storm and Mysty, but I hardly find myself using them, even when buffed.

As curve-ball left field as it sounds, 3* Bullseye is a lot of fun. He suffers a lot from having green and purple as his active colors, since so many other green and purple characters are top tier, but he's still a blast to play.

Also consider Patches. He pairs well with a lot of other characters. Him and Hulk are an old school way to tear through matches crazy fast.
