New Mode

I don't know how many of you played the original Puzzle Quest, but in you could capture monsters you faced multiple times (with a unique puzzle for each one!), and then learn their abilities using another different mode of play. It's that one that I wanted to suggest for MPQ as something to add for players during downtime.
The mode works as follows:
You chose an ability, which had a corresponding difficulty (easy, medium, hard, very hard). A normal board screen populated, but in this mode no character abilities could be used. At the bottom left were goals - they would be numbers of each color gem you had to match. Additionally, the two other gem types (experience and skulls/damage) were not required to pass, but still in the board - usually they ended up being filler. Finally, there was one last unique type of gem - scrolls. Scrolls were only created when you matched-4 (1 created) or matched-5 (2 created). You then had a goal scroll count that usually ranged between 3 and 20 depending on difficulty. Here's an example of a requirement:
0/120 Green
0/40 Blue
0/60 Yellow
0/260 Red
0/15 Scrolls
When you matched enough to finish a requirement of a color, the board removed all gems of that color (surgical strike board shake equivalent). Whenever you couldn't make a move, you lost and had to start over.
I feel like this mode (or something similar) would add more of the "puzzle" aspect into the game, as well as give users a chance to earn some extra rewards. Even if it was limited per day, it's something. I'd rather it didn't go in behind a pay-wall (HP or packs), but a gamble might be interesting (wager ISO/HP to play, earn more ISO/HP for winning). Alternatively it could be used to shuffle covers - choose a cover in your inventory, difficulty is based on the number of stars of the cover. If you lose, nothing bad happens except you lose time (or maybe a 50HP cost to play for higher-tier cards? I don't know). If you win, it shuffles the cover to a random cover of the same level (including the cover you submitted). Obviously RNG will RNG.
Anyways, I just wanted to bring up that a new mode like that would be interesting to see in this game, assuming there's no licensing / IP issues.

I love the original puzzle quest, and have always wished more elements of that game were brought to MPQ0
