Bug with defender/vigilance and first strike

So, apparently, if a creature has Defender/Vigilance and gets First Strike (Kudos to the **** who put the white deck that abuses this) then, apparently, the DEFENDER, when ATTACKED, deals its damage first... even though First Strike applies ONLY WHEN ATTACKING, NOT WHEN ATTACKED. This basically allows a white deck to put any creature in with First Strike, reinforce it so that it has more attack than most monsters have health, and be essentially invincible until someone hits it with a spell and kills it. In reality, this tactic makes this game a little bit overly favorable for a white deck, even against a blue deck, because all you have to do is keep nothing but First Strike monsters and mana gain supports and you never take a hit.

    Ummmmm.... no.

First strike applies in any combat. It may be that the in-game wording is misleading to someone who didn't already know what first strike means, but the mechanic works the way it's supposed to.
  • It is a powerful combination but it's certainly not unbeatable. You mentioned blue. Blue just decreases power of the first strike defender by 6 and kills it without getting damage or simply uses bounce.
    Red burns it.
Green runs with big creatures into it .
White can use first strike, damage prevention or just disable and then kill it.
Black has also some creature removals.

Also every color can use it with the spell card helmet of gods. White has the big advantage over most colors that it can give every defender flying easily though.

Don't see anything wrong with the first strike. First strike damage is always dealt first (whether attacking or defending) and resolves before non-first strike damage is dealt.
