playing multiple decks

Story mode does a good job of forcing you to try other decks and other options. But QB just encourages you to play the fastest deck you can reliably win with, over and over. Not to mention that sometimes it's just what cards you get that determine what's even viable.

Do you play with multiple different PWs consistently? I find myself using exactly one PW and one deck over and over, simply because it's the best. I have a 100% win rate with my current deck. And I'm at the highest level that is practical, so there's no point in raising my level to see stronger decks, either. And since the rewards for story changed, I don't really bother much with that anymore, either. What do you find?

  • On the rare occasions I do sit for a dedicated session outside of the ****, I swap between decks for QB just for pure variety sake, not because it makes any sense to do so. Game is boring.
  • I use my lvl 50 green for most battles in qb. Blue and white both 50 I only use when I get bored of green because they are a bit slower. I never have to because I always have potions left.

My lvl 38 black and my lvl 40 red I only use if I need less than 5 ribbons to get rank 17 shortly before an qb event ends.

I don't play story anymore. I will do the few objectives that I'm missing, when I desperately need the crystals or get really bored.

I used to switch my decks quite often after 1.31 to see which deck is the fastest. But not anymore since I think that I need new cards to improve on my deck

I'd love to see the deck you have a 100% win rate with even my best decks have lost a few to rubbish card draw or ridiculous AI gem cascades.
I play with a lvl 50 Nissa when I'm charging in the QB, but playing 160 games straight with one plains walker gets a bit repetitive after a while so I've got to swap after a while

Do you guys find that level 50 opponent's decks tend to have more rares and mythic cards than lower levels?
  • Now there is more incentive to play higher-level PWs, but the deck I'm using presently is the same deck I used when I kept my Nissa at L20. The only recent addition is my newly acquired Honored Hierarch, which I substituted for my Helm of the Gods.

    Current L50 Nissa:
    Skysnare Spider
    Somberwald Wolf
    Honored Hierarch
    Herald of the Pantheon
    Outland Colossus
    Dwynen, Gilt-Leaf Daen
    Animist's Awakening
    Sword of the Animist
    Zendikar's Roil
    Nissa's Pilgrimage

Unfortunately, this is the only deck I use in QB. I won't raise Lilliana above L33 because I believe Corrupt-3 is markedly worse than Corrupt-2. Jace I haven't played since the change to bounce mechanics and have just kept him at L20 until I see how the nerf bat hits him next. Gideon is hanging at L26 because I haven't used him since rewards arrived in QB when I didn't have key must-have cards which I have since acquired; might give him a whirl one of these days. I'm also lacking certain cards for Chandra that would greatly lend to her efficiency; Abbot, Hellion, Exquisite Firecraft.

I don't play against low levels anymore but there is in my opinion no reason for someone with a really good deck to not leveling up to at least to 37 or 40.

But there are also people with mediocre to really just starter decks at level 50 too.I think that higher levels are a bit harder to win because of the PW abilities not because of the decks. Red, green and blue get very strong in very unique ways, so that it's at higher levels more important to have a deck that counters all of their playstyles.

As for the 100% thingy. Since 1.31my win lose ratio dropped about 3 percent because I wasn't used to play against higher levels and because I started to quit a lot games that seem to get slow. A few days ago I started to not quit games anymore and I found out that I'm now so used to my deck that I potentially can beat everything and even blue doesn't slow me down that bad anymore.
Against players it would be another thing but the ai is just still pretty predictable.
If we were able to set back our win lose ratio, I'm sure i could get 99 percent but I agree 100% is just unrealistic. Bad luck, a phone call, lack of concentration or just a game freeze. Anything can ruin 100%

The 100% win rate has more to do with the fact that I've only played it for 40 or 50 games or so (hard to know). I'm sure eventually I'll get a run of bad luck and lose a game as Nerimos suggested. The point wasn't so much the 100% as the "I rarely lose so the incentive to switch PWs or decks is nonexistent."

Do you never lose HP? Even if you don't "lose" you can win the game at low health and have incentive to switch planeswalkers at that point.

He said he played 40 to 50 games so far. Using a potions after every game means you can play 4 games without switching pw. Doesn't sound he is playing enough to being forced to switch PW.

And to be honest it's pretty rare that I have to switch my PW because of health. If you use a potion about every 30 minutes you don't have to switch PW. That's 5 to 10 games depending on your speed. I only use a potion with green when I'm under 50% of max health. With white or blue I would even start with less than that.
