How are people doing this?

So, I've been playing the Brotherhood episode, and each time I am falling short of top 10. And I look at the roster for the people who are passing me, and their highest level characters are: Iron Man Model 35(Level 50), Storm Modern (Level 50), and Hawkeye Modern(Level 45)

Is there something I'm missing to make things easier?

I am currently using this team when I can
Iron Man Model 40 (Level 95)
Ragnarok (Level 95)
Psylocke (Level 88)

With this team, the level 200's are beating the snot out of me sometimes.....

Any help would be appreciated!

  • What are the boosted characters in their roster?

    C. Storm and MN Magneto are way buffed, and a powerful combo.
  • So what jumps out at me about your team is the major lack of stuns and board control. I haven't had the opportunity to use Psylocke's blue yet, but that's your only way of slowing your opponent. I would suggest replacing Psylocke with Classic Storm (as she's buffed in this event) to act as your board/crowd control. Rag's Red and IM40's yellow would feed her green and blue, letting you mass clear the board or give a 4 turn stun. I started Brotherhood with a CStorm in her 50's and I didn't regret it at all. She's up to 75 now and is doing some massive damage.
  • I don't have a Classic Storm.

Psylocke has been slapping everyone for me. She has the 200% power up
    Psychic Knife 8 (Red)
1196 damage, creates a strike token (239 damage) Costs 1 less for each strike token on the field
    Bewilder 10 (Blue)
Creates a 3 turn Countdown tile that steals 12 AP of the largest colo pool
    Psi-Katana 6 (Black)
Deals 1196 damage, and creates a black Attack tile doing 176 damage.

    Yellow 11
    Red 83
    Blue 74
    Purple 13
    Green 12
    Black 65

I have a Classic Magneto that is Level 100. Should I trade him out for Rags?
  • The event scales to your level. People with ONE star roosters will see mobs challenging to them but not impossible. Storm and hawk are actually a very powerful combination if you know how to play them. AP generation and critical tile placement can let you cascade perpetually on some boards.

Your team sounds solid, but not ideal for pve. You basically need to outmuscle them and deny them AP for attacks or you're sunk. Teams with more board control and stuns have an easy time in pve. High health guys like rag are mostly good for discouraging other players from attacking you, which doesn't help here. If you have the covers, try classic storm instead of rag. Deny enemy colors and try for yellow to recharge. Feed blue to storm for stuns and aoe. Green is more AP. Three ranks of recharge is really helpful here.

The easiest I've tried so far is MN Mag, cStorm, and whoever. Low health but get enough purple and you've won.
  • You're probably getting rubber banded. Try to time your last stack grind as close to event completion as possible.

I try to join with 14 to 15 hrs to go and do at least one lap through the nodes. then wait until there is about 90 mins left in the event, then start grinding like a mad man. I was getting 3.75K a pop for the essential nodes and and went from 100th to 3rd place in 30 mins. Top 5 get the same **** so no need to do anything above and beyond the call of duty unless you're in a crazy main bracket.
  • At level 30 my C. Storm is one-shot destroying most teams. And the ** Mags' purple ability fuels it - and he in turn is fueled by the inordinate amount of purple tiles created by goons in this event.

I don't think classic Magneto is buffed, but he does have more board manipulation.
  • Classic mag isn't boosted and not as useful here as MN Mag. MN Mags usefulness is mostly feeding blue to stunnersthrough his purple. His red also generates AP

I've had success, but it's slow goings. I'm running 85 3/5/5 MN Mags, 141 3/5/5 Spidey and ~125 5/3/5 GSBW when I can. If a forced pairing, I drop GSBW.

Fights can start off a little hairy until the stunlock is rolling. It's a race for blues and purples at first. Once I get 9 blue or 9 purple it's pretty much game over via stunlock. Once I have a nice stash of blue set aside to safely keep up stuns purple AP use shifts from blue-gen via MNMags to Green-gen via GSBW. From then it's sniper rifle mostly, targeting highest HP guys with matches and sniper targets and letting the AOE bring down the others fairly evenly. Probably averages out to 6-9 minutes a match.

When I have to drop GSBW things slow down considerably, but so far I've adopted "better safe than sorry" and chosen to keep Mags because I prioritize keeping the stunlock going at all costs. Then primary DPS actually becomes Mag's Red, but it's single target, so I work them down one-by-one instead of bringing them down evenly. Probably average 12-15 minutes a match.

I never use boosts, end most matches with full health, and don't think I've ever fully been wiped in this or simulator. Usually the worst case scenario is Mag getting downed before I get stunlock going since he's front and center with his power-up. If I get a rough board or early enemy cascades against Ares he can eat it early (maybe 1/25 matches). If that happens, at least it usually happens early in the match and I usually just retreat and wait out his 20 minute rez timer, then heal everyone up in a prologue mission.

Seeing the comments on CStorm makes me wonder if I should give her a try over GSBW maybe. GSBW's Sniper rifle hitting for about 3800 primary and 3100 secondary. What kind of numbers are you seeing with Storm's blue? I get hoardy with blue, though.
  • My cStorm is 55, maxed windstorm does 1800ish, four round stun. Once you start rolling you'll be flooded in AP with her green and Maggie's red. When I can pick the third I've been going with OBW to steal or Im40 to dump yellow to blue.
  • you have to be patient and feel out the rubber band timing. it doesnt make sense to clear the entire event and stacks right away, maybe clear it once and then wait for the point values to get nice and high and then only play the highest point value nodes on the board. I usually prioritize the brotherhood nodes because you can charge up some powers before they take their first swing. and I will be cautious with nodes that I have less than a 50% chance of beating, only giving it a shot at the very start when I don't have a lot of time to play or at the end when I need a good shot of points to keep my position.

Don't clear the entire stack but wait periodically for the points to regenerate. in this event the points regenerate pretty quickly. if you clear it all the way down to 1 then you will be scrambling for points at the end and other players will pass you. Think of it like a plant. if you keep picking at it, it will wither away. you have to remove the fruit and give it a rest to grow back nice and strong.

That said, I assume you have a team that can beat all the nodes in the event with the odd node giving you a little bit of trouble. If you are not at that level, you need a better balanced team or need to level a bit more before expecting to get top 5.

I like Psylocke because she's hot but she's not the strongest character although mine is currently 51 with two sets of covers. You need two backups to be your main muscle and it would help if at least one of them is boosted for the event. modern storm is actually a monster for the desert, jungle and to a lesser extent, the snow nodes. her red and green can make it so the other team never gets a turn. you just need a tank to keep her from getting hurt ideally with a strong power that isn't green or red.

my main muscle is classic storm and thor, third character is MN Mags. MN mags is pretty kick **** with his purple power. if it's leveled, you can make some insane blue combos and fuel anyone else that has a strong blue power like modern storm.

That said, I've done pretty will in this event with my secondary teams as well. Captain america is pretty awesome in this event, especially since his abilities allow you to place your countdown tile. you can place it over an enemies special tile which negates their power. I've thrown venom wolverine and moonstone in there to get some of the weaker nodes so my main team can charge up. If you are using classic storm you just need someone strong enough to protect her until her red and green charge up enough to feed each other.

Just got to get your strategy together. I assume you paid to upgrade Psylocke because you can't even get 3 sets of covers for her yet. It pays to struggle a bit in order to get your strategies worked out so you know who is most valuable to level and use.

For me, I have been consistantly top 10 pretty much throughout (on each sub) . I have not faced a single +200 enemy for this event. My higher Character is MHawkeye at 85 but the team I play with is 75 GSBW, 50 MStorm, and either the required character (28 Psylocke, 16 MN Mags, or 18 Punisher) - or 69 Daken. A pretty squishy team but once I start cascading I rarely end my turn. I feel bad because I know there are folks like you that are facing the 200s. I don't know you guys can do it but you have my respec.

my enemies have not been scaling as much either.
  • MN Mags is amazing for most of these fights (mine are almost completely 230)

For good fights you can pair up 4 of his 5 blues in a row to destroy countdown tiles and with OBW use her heal to delay them/heal party or with Spiderman to stun opponents

His red is also a great, fast generator if you have enough red and does a nice bit of damage too, clearing a 5*5 segment

the Psylock required fights are a little harder for me but not too bad because I have to bring in either punisher or patch - my two top damage and their coverage is a little redundant, and then either OBW for steal/heal or spiderman for stun/heal/shields but I lose out on MN Mags amazing board control/blue generation

I suppose if I had a high 3* widow she might be as good with her purple making greens which would likely kill off the enemy damage timers while refilling her op aoe
