Confused By Championing

Hey everyone,

I am a returning player that used to be a regular everyday player. I have a good amount of 3*'s and I would say that I am transitioning into a 4* team slowly. I do not understand the whole championing of lower star characters. I have a lot of the older characters and need to obtain many of the newer ones. Do you need covers to champion the 2* characters? What are the benefits of champing characters.

I am also looking for a steady alliance to join that is casual in point requirements.

I would appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks

Championing allows you to level 2* and up characters beyond their old level limit and get rewards for it. Up to 50 levels for 2* and 100 levels for 3* and up.

If you have an eligible character, you can pay a one time ISO cost in their character screen to turn them into a champion. Once they are a champion you can apply new covers you get for that character to them. This will net you a level for that a character and other rewards like ISO, CP, HP, Heroic/Legendary tokens and even covers for the next tier of characters.

As for a good alliance, I suggest looking in the Alliances forum and posting there.

    Welcome back!
  • Thanks for the tips and info I really appreciate it. Are the 2*'s worth championing or should I focus on my 3*'s? Are there specific characters that are worth champing vs others that are not?

to me any character that you've found enough value in to max - is worth championing. some benefit more from being able to respec at will - new version im40 comes to mind, depending on who you're running him with. the championing iso fee is ultimately turned into tokens/cp/hp through the rewards, but for some, the 3* rewards will take so long, you may never get them to level 266 to realize all those rewards. however, for 7500iso and 1 cover, a guaranteed LT right off the bat helps a ton for those rosters ready to pull LTs (i.e. can handle 5*s on their roster). for 2*s anyone already maxed is worth it, even if you sell them later after you hit the max of 144. I would not want to champ someone who you might consider selling for a roster slot later. hope this helps and good luck.

edit: let me finish one sentence in there: I would not want to champ someone who you might consider selling for a roster slot later...before you've farmed all the rewards out of them
  • Thanks a lot Ireally appreciate it! I will start working toward champing some characters.

Just wanted to add, for the sake of completeness, that making a hero a champion allows you to respec their powers for free at will. You can't downgrade a power below 3, but you can shift them around between battles to your heart's content.
