3* Storm vs 2* Storm

I've been playing about a month. When I got the cover for 3* Storm I let my 2* version go. Now I'm getting 2* covers right and left and no covers for the 3*. Should I go back to the 2* version?

they are very different other than their green abilities. I'd keep both, but my guess is that 2*storm will serve you best where you are in the game. she's one of the best 2*s out there and her blue is in the discussion for the best 2* ability overall. 3* storm is an ok character. useful in certain situations. she is solidly on my galactus fighting team, but she isn't a critical character for any level. 2* storm is very critical in 2* play.0

If you're strictly free to play, then probably let the 3* version go. She isn't close to the best 3* while 2* Storm is top 3 in 2* land. You'll want to save your limited roster slots for high priority 3*s like Iron Fist.
If you're willing to drop a few bucks on the game, buying roster slots is going to grease the wheels of your progression by a good bit, though. Having every 3* will eventually be desirable for various reasons, and 3* Storm isn't actually bad in any case.0 -
Okay, thanks for the help. I'm shuddering at all the covers I've gotten rid of for the 2* Storm. I'm close to having enough hero points for another slot, so I'll just hang on and add her when I have some. Or drop Doc Ock to make room.
I won Luke Cage. How important is he?0 -

I did the same with Daken when I first started. His 3* cover was one of the first I pulled from a token, so I thought it was going to be that easy to pull 3* covers from tokens. I put 2* Daken back on my roster a few weeks later.
Luke Cage is one of the best 3* characters in the game. Especially if the one cover you have is red.0 -
I'm a new player so by no means an expert, but 3* Storm doesn't seem all that great. 2* Storm and 2* Magneto are my two best dudes / highest level, and even had 2 3* Storm covers, but just looking at her abilities I don't see the appeal. I sold her as I have a lot of other covers that I wanted to use in the slot before Storm 3*.0

If you are deciding between 3* Storm vs Doc Ock vs Luke Cage, then Luke Cage is the one to keep (and I agree with keeping 2* Storm over 3* Storm at this point in your roster).0 -
2 star Storm is quite valuable. 3 star storm is entirely forgettable. ( mostly due to the over saturation of 3 star characters )
Coupled with 2 star Magneto and Hawkeye they are a pretty tough trio to beat.0 -
3* storm is sneaky in her PVP if she gets off black you are going to get hammered. In PVE she works well with Loki and 4Thor. The new IM40 makes her less useful since he gets 4Thor going so much faster0

It is important to understand that with 40 3* characters in the game the likelihood of getting more covers for one certain 3* is very low, especially at the glacial pace you can get them when you are just starting. With that I'm not saying that you must just forget about 3*s. If possible, do everything in your power to keep them in your roster, as you don't want the rare chance of you opening a second cover of a 3* go to waste because you trashed it. However, this must not come at the cost of your 2*s, which at your point in the game are your bread and butter. Making a strong 2* team is your only way of progressing and increase your chances of getting 3*s so you can build them in the future. That said, you don't need every 2* either. A team of 5-7 will suffice but you need to make sure they are the better 2*s. Take a look at the "Character rankings" in this subforum to get a good idea. (btw, Captain Marvel appears at a rather low point in there, but she has one of the few black abilities in the whole tier, and hers is the best one.)
My suggestion is, never, ever spend a single Hero point in stuff that is not roster slots and try to earn as much HP as possible. There are several missions in the prologue that reward it. In the meantime, let newly won 3*s stay in your rewards list. They'll remain there for two weeks, so you'll be able to see what is urgent and what is better to do next. If necessary, consider dropping a buck or two in adding some HP to your account if you really need some room asap. If it comes to it, yes it is better to get rid of a mediocre, one-cover 3* character to make room for a strong 2* or a stronger 3*. Again, check the rankings to get an idea. (For example, Doc Ock is nowhere near good, compared to most other 3*s. He's got his uses and is rather fun to play, but at this point you need to invest in raw power and most efficient return for your investment.)0 -

but overall, yeah her 2* form is better, especially since the new iron man rework you can fire her blue even faster and you can get her green to fire if you previously collected 3 green ap0 -
Yeah, IM40 is mostly a battery now. Can make some fights go so very fast. I'll pair with Psylock and Kamala Khan. Three low cost abilities to activate Bring out their Best, and two big AOE that wreck with a few strike tiles out.0

Hmmm this is excited I wanna give a try. Well I am just new here but I feel I could have more fun with this kind of game which means I will have more enjoyment here.

2-star Storm is a character you'll likely hold onto forever. If you're still at the point where 2-stars are your main roster she's easily a go-to character. Once you graduate beyond 2-stars you'll still want to keep one or two around for the Deadpool Daily, which she can handle fairly well. On top of that she makes for a great team-up to send to alliance members, since her 4-turn stun is valuable at any tier.
On the flip side 3-star Storm is a specialist. She's not top tier, but her green and yellow are good AP generators and her black is killer in survival nodes. With that said she lacks the versatility or team-up potential of the top-ranked characters. Worth keeping around, but not the highest priority.
I'd recommend keeping as many 3-stars as you can, especially if you can actually clear the Deadpool Daily. Once you hit the level where you can get through the Big Enchalada mission you'll start picking up 3-stars at a much more steady clip, and that 3500k ISO a day really makes a difference.
With all of that said, the characters you mentioned in the thread should be prioritized as 2-star Storm, Luke Cage, 3-star Storm, Doc Oc. Cage can be thrown into just about any team and rock, while Doc is a specialist.0 -
I love 2* storm and have wished that 3* was molded after her rather than 1*. As far as managing your roster, I personally have held onto all the 2* characters minus bagman (all but 3 are Championed), have almost all the 3* (only missing Ragnarok), as well as 6 4* (not sure on this count right now) stars and then I have held onto Juggernaut for the 1* Deadpool daily. I have been playing for just over a year and have not spent a dime on the game and managed to get all those character slots. Just have to be patient, and the occasional 1000 hp draw in the Deadpool daily helps.0

They are both great imo. 2* Storm is obviously one of the best in her class, but there is also a case to be made for 3* Storm as well.
Do not underestimate 3* Storm, her black power is scary! She's more of a tactician than anything, but she's one of those characters you hate to come across in PVP nodes because she will force you to use health packs if she gets her black power off. There's a bit of a glass tank to her as well. Her black power is relatively cheap and she will most likely fire it off before you have a chance to kill her. Throw in some strikes tiles and you have a perfect recipe for some hurting. Talk about death by 1,000 paper cuts.
I also like to use her if I have some good team up abilities. Her yellow ability is incredibly useful in collecting Do a little damage, and than follow it up with that team up power you've been sitting on. Whenever her character is boosted I make sure to stock up on some good team up powers.
No roster is complete without both characters, but you should prioritize based on your needs at the moment.0 -
2 star Storm definitely!!!
She just became my first fully levelled Champion at 144!!
My only issue with her is her health only 3552 at fully levelled - whereas 2* Cap is sitting higher at level 600
