Day 696 user here, looking for some help on transitioning into 4* territory. I have 3 situational 4*s (XFW, NF, IW) fully covered, and one (Thor) on the way that I really like using in pve, but want to make a good 4*/3* team for pvp. Anything I should be working on in this roster?

with the change to im40, the im40/4thor combo with a decent green user is very powerful if you can get all 3 of the cds to hit. do you have 2 im40 yellows? if not I'd max him while you're waiting for thor's covers to come in. fist/xf can be ok, but has limitations. how are you doing this week with fist boosted? I still see a xf/thor team in pvp once in a great while, but they aren't 'best'.

week to week will really depend on the boosted list. if you get thor maxed with xf, that will give some options, even if they aren't 'best'. if a strong red/blue user is boosted like cmags, you could run xf/cmags - a very good combo. or if kk is boosted you could run 4thor/kk. problem is, with the 3* boosted nerf, the 3s will be quite a bit weaker than they used to be. really I'd be tempted to max im40 and thor and if the featured had 2 of purple/green/black covered, just run thor/im40 - I swear they're that good. im40 makes everything so easy - I used 2 healthpacks climbing from 650 to 1100 in his pvp.

regardless of boosted list, you'd always have xf/thor as a default until you get some higher tier 4*s up and running. I'm sure you know, but pair any of the top red/blue users (i.e. imhb/cyke/ or even 4thor) with any of the top purple/green users (jean/ice/rulk) and you have a solid duo for pvp. my opinion is that imhb is the best red/blue and ice is the best purple/green. however, ice has a drawback in that he's all about getting that green off and 12 green without an accelerator is sometimes tough. so sometimes jean is better because 10 purple can be easier to get to. jean can also wipe out special tiles/cds on the board, so that is situationally better, but ice is a better damage dealer with a bigger aoe and a large blue nuke that is accelerated. I like playing ice with cyke a little better if ice is tanking strongest color because you can manufacture green via cyke yellow if you need. anyway, now I'm rambling. hope this helps.

thanks for the reply, was thinking about raising IM40 since his yellow was improved and I've been in need of a good accelerator. I've been lacking an IF for a long time due to either taking a short break when IF launched, a constant wall of IFs in his pvp, to just plain bad RNG luck with tokens. Eventually, I got a cover from last season's simulator progression. As a result, he's currently my least covered 3* and is far from being usable.

The last BoP, I ran a 5/4/4 XFW, 4/3/3 Thor, and Loki and had a lot of fun against well rounded IMHB teams, and have been considering how to make Thor work in pvp ever since. XFW was great for taking damage, but had a green that wiped out charge tiles and needed the last black cover, and Loki would just take a single good hit on defense and die. So I've been trying to switch out those two with other combinations ever since, like subbing Storm or Luke Cage into that team, but that just took even more time to attack with.

Will definitely be championing IM40 from now on, so thanks for that suggestion.

bit of an update on the roster:

Championed IM40 and he's now part of my pve team, running with 4* Thor/XFW, or Thor/Mohawk Storm, and it's been really fun to have recharge go off in time to kill off mobs with X-Force, Power Surge, and Smite. This team works wonders in pve.

This brings me to my next dilemma: having 3 blue covers on Thor just doesn't cut it in pvp. I'm finding myself using Surge more often for the sake of keeping pvp teams stunned to keep them away from my delicious charge tiles, or to delay their red/blue/green abilities after they've gotten a lucky cascade with my tiles. Sure, I can wait until I hit 30 red and 30 blue, then let them all fire off, but that's a lot of turns to open to damage when you factor in IM40's stun. The RNG has not been kind and in the last 20+ LTs in the past month, the covers have been split amongst my low covered 4*s, some 5*s, and duplicates for IW and Fury (4 duplicates total). So, I'm split on saving up on CP for Thor, or to try and get lucky with the other low covered 4*s and 5*s. Also torn on what to build now that IM40 is done; he's good, but he's only as good against full championed 4* teams as the 4* he's supporting.

So, should I start saving up CP and finish up Thor? Level up Thor and Fury to help XF in pvp? Use CP on some 3* covers (KK, Cyclops, IF)?
