You know what would be great? No crash penalty
I know this would be a bit hard because I'm sure there are ways to fake it, but it would be brilliant if the app on my iPad crashes, I don't get totally boned by losing points and taking damage. It really sucks, and has happened a few times
Admittedly it's an iPad 1 but I'm just saying it would be nice to not have that happen.

It would be way to easy to abuse if this was the case. I've had the app freeze on me in mid game and lost points/health to having to kill it. Yeah it sucks. It doesn't happen very often though. If it does, you have bigger issues than losing points/health.
This is one of those things that the ease of abuse would far outweigh any potential gain.0 -
For the app, I don't see it being easy to abuse. On PC, yea, there would be ways for sure to kill its process. But the notification routine exists outside the game itself. I wonder if there would be some way to tie in a crash report routine the same way. When the game does freeze/crash, it's liable to generate an error. I know it would be tricky to sort, but still would be nice. It's just a massive pain on a timed event to crash out or get nailed like I did during the server up and downs.0

If you know what you're doing, it's easy to close even an ipad app in a way the game can't distinguish from a crash.
The correct solution is to minimize crashes, not to make them a potential source of abuse.0 -
Agreed. There should be no penalty.
My game crashes before making any matches, at least that should not be penalised. Force quitting the application abuse can be minimized by letting no-penalty once a day. Even, when not handling the abuse, its enough penalty to leave the battle damaged...
Also, if game would b continueable, then force quitting would be useless.
Game should really at least check if the round had any matches done so no penalty for no movement, and recovered boosts too!0 -
Just make it keep state of game on server and resume on restart after crash. No abuse whatsoever.

I had a crash during the Fresh Cut event last night. It happened as soon as I pressed "Fight" and when it came back, I lost all boosts and had to use health packs to heal as well as losing rank points. It was very frustrating because I was rank 19 at the time and that single match would have put me in the top 15 for a second Black Panther cover (was during the final 30 min). It's one thing to crash mid match but it's also another to crash before you're able to even see the initial board. Only thing I can think of was that it was due to using retired boosts with the new boosts. Either way, it sucked.0

Freezing at the beggining of fight again0 -
A crash has just killed my chances to score higher in the Fearless Defenders - this means that I will be without a levelled up Ares and that I will not be able to compete in the Divine tournament...0

Four crashes during fearless defender tournament today, the down ranking is extremely costly.0

So after turning on my device, I see that there are some updates for me to grab, MPQ being one of them. Then I go prepare some food and let the updates happen. After I come back, the icon makes it seem as if the update is done.
So I enter the Hulk event and pick the final Romania fight. Seems hard due to scaling, so I add quite a lot of boosts. In the middle of it, I see that the game is still updating...
And now my best team is at zero HP (and I lost a couple of each of the best boosts that cost gold)!!
While I could use 3 health packs, this would not allow me to place higher in the event. So I'm giving up for today and probably for the whole week as well. Yes, you might say that it was my fault for foolishly expecting the update to be done within 15 minutes. But the fact remains: the current architecture of the game is just beyond annoying. Just shoddy workmanship. Where's the fun in having your whole team wiped out like that?0 -

This is incorrect because it places the downside risk from crashes on the entire playing population to correct for a possible exploit that would only occur a very small % of the time, with a very small % of the player base. The best solution is to do both - minimize crashes, and do not punish the player base in the meantime.0 -
Everytime I get a call when I'm in a match, I get kicked out of the app. Am I the only one?0

I've seen a lot less crashes on my ipad since upgrading to ios 7.1.0

While occasionally crashing and then getting the penalty is a pain, my bigger problem is when I need to stop playing mid-game, and just close my phone. Then I go driving around or what not, and then when I come back to it, the game restarts with the same penalty as if I lost.0

if gamestate was stored server side, you'd be constantly up/down, which would would be both an even bigger battery drain than the game is, as well as use much more bandwidth.
I'll take the once a month crashes over that and the clear cheating potential any day.0 -
I don't know if this helps at all, but I've noticed what particularly crashes the systems on Androids.
I'm using a HTC One S, but the same occurs with my wifes HTC One.
While the game is open, you can exit to your home screen, however opening another app will crash the game.
If the app was open, then you can switch to it to look at it, but any subsequent action will close the program.
The only apps this does not happen with are ones that do not use any kind of communication, alarm, calculator, camera (as long as auto upload is off)
Also having auto sync on your phone will crash the game if synching occurs outside of the game screen, then again with the drain on battery you want this to be off anyway.
Text messages will crash the game, however accepting a phone call while in the game will not, just as long as you end the phone call and do not exit the game then you won't be penalized. Occasionally it will reset the game after completion, however it will still give your rewards so only slight inconvenience.
Use of any app that uses the internet once returning to main screen will also crash the game.
However I haven't noticed any crashes on the iPad, though I rarely ever update iOS so not sure what version I'm on. On this note though, as gamers we all should know that if it isn't broke, don't fix it, because most likely that fix will break other things. I say just let D3 do the updates and iOS can wait until we're good and ready.
Hope that's useful in some way to people.0 -
Agreed I have lost so many points because of it.0
