Upgrading Character's Star Rating
The recent 'Lone Star' tournament got me thinking about this. It would be cool if we could upgrade the star rating of our characters to increase their level cap and thus make them stronger.
Here is how I think it could go:
If a character is at max level pay some Hero Points to break the level cap and take them to the next star rating. A one star character would pay 100 HP to become a two star, 300 HP to go from 2 to 3, and 600 HP to go from 3 to 4. For example an Iron Man Model 35 at level 50 would pay 100 HP became a two star and level up to 85. Once maxed at 85 you could pay 300 HP to raise the cap to 141, etc.
As they move to the next rating the characters could get all the benefits like collecting more covers and increasing their power. Even if they didn't include new abilities for many of the one stars it would still be nice to have them at higher levels.
This could greatly open up team variety without the devs having to constantly create new characters. People could raise up a favorite character to play instead of just using the typical strongest. It would also open up a new revenue stream for the devs between HP spent on getting past level caps and crystals to level them up. Throw in more one star, two star, three star, and four star tournaments and people might even keep different versions on the same character on their rosters so HP would also be spent on roster space. Even without that people might me more inclined to keep characters if they know they think they can be useful later still increasing roster space.
I see it as a simple solution win-win that would increase variety and playability for the player and money for the devs.

at the current metagame, I'd see this as a rich only or abuse only option.
anyone had fun fighting against lvl 230 jugs n storm last tourney?
Unless you limit who can be promoted, we'll see a lot of lvl 230 hulk, m.storm, juggs teams.
I wouldn't wish that fight on my worse enemy.0 -
only if they get the same scaling like new star rank both in power and match0

Yeah, I think the only reason Modern Storm can exist the way she does is because of her level cap. At 4* (and level 200-something) she would put the other characters in the game to shame.0

In the Simulator event, Lvl 230 M Storm got off a Hailstorm before my Spidey/Patch/Mags team managed to stunlock the whole enemy team.
Even though they were kept in stunlock, the hailstorm killed Spidey and Mags before I finally brought the enemy team down. Just the Hailstorm damage.0 -
its 1 damage per tile per 7 levels right?
so 230/7 is about 33 rounded up.
Since 230s have 5/5/5
so that's 18 tiles x 33 for 1 cast of hail or in other words,
594 per turn, not too bad if your playing tank/nukers but hurts when your going the stunlock path.0
