Steam Cloud Details (Patch R48)

Hey All,

The recent R48 update added a number of exciting new features to Marvel Puzzle Quest. One such feature is the Cloud save migration found on the Steam version. While many of you were happy to hear that this feature has been added, some users may not be familiar with the way the standard Steam Cloud behavior works. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
    • There is one save per Steam account. The save in App Data is now only used to initially populate your Steam Cloud save.
    • In the event that you do want multiple saves, our recommendation would be that you create a second Steam account.
      o You can then run the game with that new Steam account on the PC/Windows profile you want to use to populate the initial state of the Steam account.
      • It is also possible to disable the Cloud syncing to allow multiple saves on the same Steam account, but this will only work across multiple PCs and not 2 Windows Profiles on the same PC (So we don’t recommend this step).

    For those out there that may have launched the game on the wrong PC/Windows profile the first time and created an initial save that wasn’t what they wanted, it may be possible to resolve the issue by taking the following steps:
      • Find the mpq_save.dat file in the Steam/userdata folder that corresponds to the desired Steam account. • Overwrite it with the mpq_save.dat file in the App Data folder that you want to be your initial save state.

    Please note that altering any game files can potentially be dangerous, so please feel free to contact support if you have any questions or would prefer their help resolving the issue.

    It may also be beneficial to visit the Steam forums for further information, as there will be many users that are familiar with the way the Steam Cloud service works and may be able to provide even more details for those that would like to learn more.
