What is the point in Pyromancer's Glasses?

I just got in for winning Quick Battles. It just seems too expensive with little rewards. I could understand this being a good card for Jace, but it doesn't seem all that great for Gideon.

What is a situation where I would want this in my deck?

    Actually, it is a card that can greatly be taken advantage of. It activates a gem every turn, not just when you match the 1st gem.

    My particularly favorite scenario is using with Gideon by placing goggles in the deck with only one spell - Gideons Phalanx. So, every time you activate a gem, you will get an 8/8 defender for free. Considering the high cost of the spell, you can save a lot of mana, even hundreds, by playing goggles instead of phalanx.

    Can also use for Chandra with a couple high cost burn cards, liliana with some death spells or revival spells (unholy hunger, Dark petition), Nissa with Jorgon. Jace is the one who seems less likely to benifit as he already has the ability to draw a free spell, and the cost of goggles alone is enough to cast 3-5 or more spells anyways.

    I thought the card was a white card and could only be used with Gideon.
