OFF TOPIC - Max level question

I'm only posting here because, for whatever reason, this board refuses to let me post in any other thread or board (really frustrating).

I have searched high and low and I can't find an answer to this. . .

The max level for two star characters is 94. How come I am always seeing two star characters in the versus matches that are above that? These are not powered up for the event. there is a blue border behind the characters name for some reason.

    Hi, these characters have been Championed, it is a feature that allows you to add up to 50 levels to a 2* character (100 to 3, 4, and 5*). Once you hit level 94, open the character from your roster screen, and you should see the button to champion them.. then you can add additional covers you receive to that character. Each cover gives you 1 level and a separate reward.
