This bug has been noted in other topics but it is better for visibility to put in his own.

When embermaw kills a creature(not sure if happening always or if the kill is due to additional 3 damage effect of embers maw) if the creature is buffed by any means(support, spell, even renown and Gideon skill) the damage embermaw receives from the fight is equal to the Unbuffed attack of the creature.
Happened always even recently take this example:
I have oracle 5/5(renowned) Against
Embermaw. So i buff him with gideon first skill to be able to trade with embermaw.
So it is my 6/6 now against 5/6 ember. Fight occurs but ember survives as 5/3.
This happens always with buffs of any kind.

Oh and one time ember vs ember both Unbuffed mine survived(not 100% sure in this one). I was the one attacking

  • I think its 'cause it deals precombat damage, like the Ashmouth Hound from the paper MTG. It's got some serious glitches and need t be looked at.

Another instance of the same bug:
Got an angel token with 7/7(cause of supports) and I buff it to 8/8 with Gideon skill.
Avarice dragon with embermaw on opposite side. Avarice attacks the angel and kills it taking NO DAMAGE AT ALL.
Maybe the bug intensifies when regarding tokens.

I also encountered a bug with Embermaw.

I was using Knight of the Pilgrim's Road. After buffing it to 5/5, my opponent summoned Embermaw and I used Enshrouding Mist (+1/+1 and prevents dmg until beginning of my next turn). So my Knight is now 6/6 and will survive because Embermaw will berserk and gets killed while not able to deal combat dmg to Knight. Yes, my Knight didn't take any damage but my planeswalker took 3 damage (I saw the blood splash animation on my planeswalker). Does "the target takes 3 extra damage" means planeswalker is also a valid target? Or is it supposed to mean creatures?
  • Yea it does precombat damage as if it had first strike, which it shouldn't.

For example, it takes no damage against a creature that has only 3 toughness.

Or treating "prevent all damage" as having dealt damage already.

Yet another bug related to combat damage.

When Embermaw dies, if it's the first creature, the second creature on your side still benefits from Embermaw's ability (hit 3 damage to target) because the card hasn't vanished from the battle yet. But the third creature on your side does not receive the benefit of this ability because the card vanished in the animation around the same time the second creature attacks.
