PvP ****?

Could someone please point me in the direction of some good info on match selection in PvP?

Tonight I was creeping up on the 1k mark, which I realize makes me worth more points and I lose more points when attacked. I got that. So I start taking some hits, not getting as many positive, so shield up for a breather. I'm doing Lightning missions and other stuff, watching the attack report, waiting for things to slow down. I burn some Iso to get some good matches lined up, but it keeps giving me 20-30 pt matches. Small potatoes if I'm going to cap out and maybe take a loss when my shield is down. I finally get a match worth 35 points, and a fair matchup. I hit it, and come out having been attacked 5 times in that brief span. I quickly jump into a 50 point match, burn it fast with boosts, and come out to almost another half dozen attacks. ****? How did I end up with a bullseye on my back? Is there a 'featured player' function in the matchup matrix? So I'm down to 730 points from 980 in the span of 2 fights, and no chance of regaining. I love this game, but this kind of anal reaming leaves a bad taste.

What was the team you are running?
Unfortunately, the weaker your team the bigger the target you become. Doing another mission when you have already been hit multiple times is, unfortunately, just giving time for more hits to come in.
Also, slice selection matters a lot. It's a lot easier to climb in the slices where people routinely end at 2000+ points, both because it's easier to find high point targets and because you yourself become a less attractive target.
  • My team was Thor 3*, Kamala Khan, and of course Scarlet Witch. All are champions, all are Iso boosted for the event. So not a weak team by any measure.
  • OJSP, thanks for the link. Picked up a few pointers. Kill list? Holy cow, taking the game out of gaming....

Actually that's an avg lvl team. After 1K, the avg team is 3 x 200 with 2 4* chars.

Anytime your pvp team has someone less than Lvl 200 chars, your team will be the easiet target in the que.

What time was this? If it's within the last 2 hours of the PVP ending, that's when the zombie hordes are out and eat everything and anything that's worth points lol.

Incidentally, it's not a weak team per se but it's not strong either, I'd hit your team any day cos it's slow to start up. Well, weaker than the sea of Jean Busters out there anyway. KK is better when you're using it to climb and try to save on health packs but on defense, AI doesn't know how to use it well.

And that in a super easy bracket. In the ones I usually get placed by the 800 mark I'm seeing 1x290+ (featured 3*), 1x270+ (maxed top tier 4*) and 1x350+ (boosted 4*). By the 1k mark I'm seeing teams with one or more 350+ 5*s.

Best advice I can give you is to climb during the second day of the event or at least during the 24h-12h of the last day. The earlier you play the less people will be playing, the less chances that your team appears on the rotation of someone. Because if it appears to somebody, you'll be seen as manna from the heavens and obliterated within seconds.
  • When you get that high and shield you don't break it for a 35 point target, and you don't wait for a "fair matchup." You keep your eye on the leaderboard and wait for high value targets to drop their shields, then you queue and hold. Once you get at least two 50+ point targets line up you break and hit as quickly as possible. If you are slow and need to do one fight at a time, you can. But as long as you aren't in the final 8 hours you should be able to get 2 fights in. Learn how to beat a maxed JeanBuster team. It's about all you see in top end PvP, and if you want to compete there you can't be skipping those points just because you think it's too hard.
  • What difference does it make if they drop shield? Are they worth more points?

That would totally answer my question, if so.

And no, no fear of Jean teams. Caution, yes, but can usually take them.

If they're shielded they won't show up in your queue unless they're already there.
