This has become more of a FAQ than a real question thread. Answers are in bold for questions that have an answer, and I included questions and answers from other threads as well.

1. How can I level up just one level for a planeswalker? Touching the button gives me some amount from nearly nothing to more than one levels' worth of XP each time. How can I ONLY give enough for the next level?
1. You can't due to bad UI.

2. How do you know which planeswalker is going to be used in battle next? (Or is it scripted?)
2. Whoever you looked at last (was the focus) on the planeswalker screen (or you can change it per battle via the UI).

3. So how do you swipe "up" on the planeswalker screen so I can go back to the part where I can swipe side to side to see different planeswalkers and adjust their decks? There has to be a trick to it because sometimes it works and most of the time it doesn't.
3. You can't due to bad UI. Well, most of the time you can't.

4. How do I claim my daily reward? (Hitting "Collect" doesn't do anything.)
4. This now works! (2/2/16 patch)

5. How do you get to "Inventory" or "Vault" from the main menu? Those buttons take me to the booster pack page.
5. This now works! (2/2/16 patch)

6. Are there just 4 more planeswalkers to buy?
6. Yes.

7. What are some of the upper levels of HP? I'm starting to see close to 40 starting HP and it really makes the game slow down. Do better-rarity cards and/or the higher mana-per-turn mechanics make up for this? Better question: does anyone have a chart of planeswalker level ups?
7. Here's a start. 80-90 HP seems to be about the max. Note: you get a new ability every 6 levels starting at level 2.

- What happens to dupes?
- Nothing ("yet").

- Should I buy the other planeswalkers right now?
- Yes.

- What are the rates on rare/mythic on the rune-priced packs?
- Maybe ~3% on rare, maybe ~1% on mythic, either way they are horrible.

- Does anyone have a handy list of those symbols and what they mean?
- Yes.

- Potions?
- Apparently they work like MPQ: you get 5 for free and they regen over time. Or just wait and your character will heal anyway. Or level up.

- Game crashes?
- Count as a loss.

- Cast the same support again?
- Increases the "shield" of that support by the same amount (doesn't create a new support tile).

More questions:

8. Can you heal yourself higher than your starting HP or are overheals wasted?

9. Anyone know how they are handling MMR in Quick Matches?
9. Possible answer: there can't be any MMR because you don't lose anything when you lose.

10. Is it possible to find keywords on cards, like "goblin" or "elf" (or token)?

  • 1) The only thing you can do is let go of the button right before getting enough for the next level, and tapping it barely until you do. There is no way of putting exactly enough to level them up without putting a few extra into the next level

    2) You can either go to the planeswalker tab (whoever you have on your screen before you switch menus is who you use, unless you go to planeswalker tab and don't touch anything), or right before a fight, you will see a small screen at the bottom with a picture of the planeswalker you are using and their current health. You can tap this screen to choose a different walker and it will return you to the pre battle screen you were at.

    3) I had this problem at the beginning, but noticed if I swipe from the top of the screen, I generally go back to the walker selection part.

    4) Daily rewards have been pretty bugged for the entire duration of the game with some players having more issues than others. As of now, I don't believe any players out there can collect daily rewards. We have an update coming tomorrow, so hopefully we will be able to continue collecting daily rewards. Also, tomorrow brings new pvp with leaderboard rewards, new pve, and various card revisions as well as Gideon being nerfed (abilites costs are increasing and 3rd Ability is being modified)

Awesome, thank you for the replies! Very helpful.
  • 5) Top left tab. Sometimes you have to click it twice to open the menu you are looking for, and the vault is the booster buying screen.

    6) Yes. It's speculated that when they release the battle for Zendikar Card set, they will release new walkers. Be sure to get all of them now, as it's very likely walkers won't cost 10 gold for very long. I expect the next ones to probably be 50 to 100

The interface on this game is just. so. awful. So here are some questions:

    5. How do you get to "Inventory" or "Vault" from the main menu? Those buttons take me to the booster pack page.

    6. Are there just 4 more plainswalkers to buy?

    More to come...

    1. You can't. It's just a straight out idiotic interface that doesn't let you do the one single thing you want to do. The best you can do is tap it, wait 3 seconds for it to respond, and spend the minimum amount (which is eventually 100), then repeat until you overshoot by the smallest amount possible. All I can say in its defence is that overshooting by <100 doesn't matter that much in the scheme of things.

    2. Just before you commit to joining the battle, below the description of it and near the start button is a little picture of a planeswalker and their current health (give or take known display bugs). They're the one you're about to use, and you can change it by tapping on their face and then selecting another.

    3. I have the same problem. I usually work around it by going to another menu and coming back.

    4. It's broken at the moment, but presumably will work again post update (which is "today", at least in my time zone now)

    5. Why do you want to go to inventory anyway? In general, you can get stuck in one place when the other place you want to be is one of the options selectable with the tabs at the top. I know this happens with quick battle and story. Not sure if that's the issue because I never go to inventory in the first place, nothing to do there (you can check your cards in the deck edit menu)

    6. Not yet but probably eventually

It's "planeswalker" not "plainswalker" by the way. It doesn't really matter, but they're both real terms in normal MtG - the latter is a rare breed of creature which can't be blocked if the defending player controls a plains land card.

Thanks for all those replies as well! Glad to know I'm not really missing anything - it's just a spectacularly poor interface. (As for why I'd want to go to inventory: I don't know! I've never managed to get there.)

And yeah, I caught the "planeswalker" misspelling myself and edited it, but thanks. icon_e_smile.gif

This game is in a pretty horrendous state right now and I don't have high hopes for patch 1.3 coming out today (supposedly...). Maybe in a few months, it will be a polished experience. I'm worried the servers will be shut down before it gets there. icon_e_sad.gif

That said, you're well ahead of the game by finding these forums. Poke around some of the posts here and you'll get a few good tips.
  • Fingers crossed -_-

I know, right? Someone else called it an alpha and I agree. The interface, though, is pretty much just laughable. I can't really get over how bad it is. It reminds me of a website instead of a mobile game, right down to the hamburger menu icon. I know it's not the core of the game but you're not going to retain any non-MtG hardcores without people being able to actually find their way around. But yeah, hopefully their next release will somehow improve the game leaps and bounds and we can all enjoy it. I'm just so surprised something with an official MtG license could look so ...amateur? I sort of get the feeling it was designed as a website and then ported to phones.

The only reason I'm on the forums is because of Marvel PQ, which shares a forum home. Otherwise, yeah, without some basic answers to some painful interface questions, I'd have already uninstalled. There are some great tips on here, I agree!
  • As a Marvel PQ player, is there hope? Does that game's UI make sense? Is there a use for duplicate cards? I've never looked into it.

Before today I would have said "maybe not" but this patch today makes me say yes, there is at least hope. This patch feels like a beta 0.8 version or something, as opposed to the alpha 0.2 version from yesterday. It's still a bit telling that it's two months since they officially released, though. Hard to tell how much support this game really has, either from playerbase or dev.

The UI is generally very, very bad but they made it better today. It's playable now.

    Dupes don't do anything ("yet").

I like the "New!" overlay on new cards in deck builder. That will be handy.

Can a mod move this thread to "tips and guides" please? It's become more like a FAQ than a quick question. Thank you!
