Hunt event dissapeared

At the launch of the Galactus event, I had not yet started the Hunt as I was going to try my luck with a late join.
I had the game open when Galactus unlocked at 12 pm EST. Galactus switched to the 'Retrieving info from server message' and was hanging.
At this time I noticed that I had the Savage Land level from the Hunt available so I clicked on it to see what was going on. The map for Savage land opened with several nodes marked as completed, but with no ranking information displayed for me. Just to see what would happen I did complete a node on this map. After that I left the event to check on Galactus. The Galactus screen eventually loaded up and the two Hunt icons were gone, and I no longer have a screen for joining the hunt.
No real big deal as far as I'm concerned, just odd server glitching behaviour that you should be aware of.
