20 Command Points, how should a newish player spend it?

I have 20 command points, i have two choices to spend it, and I am wondering what is the better choice at my current stage?
I currently have five 2* at max level. None of my 3* or 4* or higher then them (All level 89 and less)
Should I:
1. Use the points to upgrade one of my 3*s abilities?
2. Use the points on a "Classic Legends" pack, and hope I dont get a 5*
I feel #1 is better short term, and #2 is better long term. But which outweighs the other?

If I was you I would keep the cp, till you get at the point you have a couple of maxed(lvl166) 3*.0

under no circumstances buy a three star cover. three stars come from deadpool daily and with patience and time youll get them all.
choose option c. save them until your roster develops to where you can start adding to four stars. that will really help you in the long-term.
i know its harder to save them, but your patience will be rewarded.0 -
you shouldnt spend them, you should hoard it.
spending it on 3 covers is a waste of CP and buying a single legendary token is pointless too.
Either you re stuck with a 4 star with 1 cover, or you get a 5 star that you have to sell.
So until you reach the point where you have (almost) several 3 stars at 166, there is no points in opening or buying legendary tokens.0 -
Another vote for hoarding0

Save them until you are ready to roster a fivestar.0

SAVE IT!!!!!! if you plan on playing this game for many months to come. save, save, save. if you are just planning on playing a few months, then finding a new game. spend away on legendary tokens, hopefully you get some good stuff.0

Hoard your CP and Legendaries until you have Max 3 stars at 166. At the very least, wait until they say they've fixed the scaling issues with low level players picking up 5 stars.0

Spend on a classic pack,
When I was a new player on my first month I pulled kp from a standard and having a 4* to help you push a tiny bit further on some nodes really helped.
I've also had oml on my roster since my roster average was 94 and he never messed my scaling up, though some report it will it never did to me.0 -
I'd recommend saving it, at least until you get a couple 3*s on the go.0
-
Spend them all on L tokens (20 cp's). If you spend time in the game you will eventually keep one getting 3 covers (several a day) from rewards. This will let you build some 4's and you might get lucky and receive a few covers of one character over time which can become the fonundation of your team.
Only time I would use them to boost a three is if you almost have one of the better 3's fully covered (thor, cap, cyclops, fist, cage or magneto).
Also NEVER sell a 4 cover. Find a slot for it and keep on building.0 -
Like most posters I recommend saving them. Buying a 3* cover is kind of a waste, but not terrible if it's going to get you a vital, game-advancing cover such as GSBW's 5th green or the Hood's 4th or 5th blue. But buying a Legendary Token? Anyone who recommends that is not your friend.0

Save them until you have at least a good maxed 3* team. You will draw nothing useful for you from legendary tokens until then.
However, you can consider using CP to get the last covers of a staple character (IFist, Cyclops, LCage, Magneto...) if you do not see it coming in DPD or events. Champions has relaxed the cover hunting, as you can just fill the character with any set you can (Pylgrim, for that matter, 5 panther blues are now as valid as 5 black!) and, then champion and respec.
If I was in your position I wouldnt hesitate a second to spend CP for the last Iron Fist cover (again, if you dont foresee covers coming)0 -

I would spend that 20 CP on a classics Legendary token. Pray hard for a 4* haha (although if you do get a 5*, I recommend rostering it instead of tossing it, unless you feel you really need 2000 iso)
and PVE with 3 3 stars for top 50 you will be load with 3 stars fast enough0 -
I wish I found this forum before I did...I was facing the same problem, same levels of playing - My roster is 6 champed 2* with no 3* able to surpass them yet.
But through some luck(?) I had 45 cp and got excited; I spent it on tokens, figuring I'd get some 4s.
First one was 5 star Phoenix green; seems like a super lucky draw and I rostered it right away. It bumped my matchmaker up to be more difficult, but nothing too crazy. I still do about the same in both pve and pvp.
However, the second one I got was an OML black. I'm no pro, but people seem to be high on OML (though it's not his yellow), and now I have no idea what to do. From reading on here, I've put myself in a **** situation where I probably need to sell one or the other, despite them both being pretty decent/rare covers. My alliance says that I should be fine with rostering both, it'll just be a little rough.
I've got like 10 days to figure out what to do0 -
It might be a bit more than a little rough - they will increase the scaling in PvE and PvP. You might need to take some events easy while playtesting the game to see how it work.
One cover 5* is not really great but you will regret selling it later (and which to choose to sell? phoenix has rebirth so she would stay longer on the playing field but OML is the best 5* to have and very playable at 2-3 covers). Maybe now the advise is to keep playing and opening the LT and CP LT to find more Logans? He allows the players to skip 2-3-4 transitions. If the games is still playable but tough - that's what I would do (or keep hoarding the LT and CP).0 -

I can say this, I spent the majority of my transition through 2 star land with Phoenix and Iron Man (XLVI) on my roster. Phoenix green in particular was there the whole time. I did not experience any major issues with scaling and equally importantly, the Phoenix green saved my butt countless times during that stage. I would personally hold on to both of your five stars, but I wouldn't open any more legendary tokens until you're in to four star land.0 -

Between tokens and progression, the covers will come quickly. I maxed covered all my 3s in under a year, and I lost count of the extra covers that I sold while champing them.0 -

Each 3* character gets one cover every 40 days with cycling colors. One year of DDQ will net you 9 covers per character (presuming you own them to unlock the enchilada). If you spend your taco tokens, odds are good picking up more. Plus the addition of elites (and their relatively generous distribution), and 3* rewards from 2* champs makes earning them fairly quick.
I've been playing 2 years. I just missed out on "completing" my 3* champs when they introduced 3* Strange, but I've already got 3 covers for him, and 3 to earn in Simulator. That's almost halfway to full coverage and he's only been out for a month.
It is significantly more difficult if you don't own all the 3* and/or can't reliably complete the enchilada. DDQ is essential for the 2-3* transition. Once you're in the 4* realm, it's more like a farm for champ rewards and easy Iso.0
