Which planeswalkers are best to level up?

As has been said many times on this forum, for quick wins in this game, the best strategy is to use a low-level planeswalker with high-level cards. You get paired with Nissa and a novice deck - BLAM.

With Jace, fighting at low level can be awesome. Use Claustrophobia on one enemy critter and Confusion on the next, and frequently you can win without taking any damage at all. But the high level Jace abilities don't look that enticing, so I'm inclined to leave him as is.

Gideon, on the other hand, is well worth levelling up at least to level 8 where Sharp Eyes goes to level 2. It looks like the higher powers are also worth having, but I've not bothered yet, since once levelled, I can't go back.

What about the others? Any opinions?

  • I'd level all character to about level 20-25. That's roughly the level range where all get +2 bonus mana from their own color and +1 from the allied colors. That's usually enough to run even a deck with a few expensive cards effectively.

Who to level is largely dependent on your card draws. I leveled Nissa first (bit too high, level 31) just to get started. Got a few nice blue cards in the meantime, so Jace was second (currently 21). With both of them, I got enough crystals from bonus objects to buy my seond big box a few days ago. I can build a half-decent deck with any color now, so I used today daily bonus crystals to finally buy the remaining Planeswalker, all still sitting at level 1 untill I have more time to actually use them. I got about 10k runes lying around, just waiting to get them all to level ~25.
  • After viewing card pools a little more closely... I don't see why anyone would waste any time on any colour other than blue at the moment. Even if you look at upcoming cards, the new blue spells are absolutely ridiculous compared to anything anyone else gets for the cost.

They also have creatures that are some of the hardest to defend against, which just translates into unstoppable damage. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how it seems to me. And now that blue has some of the best and most cost efficient units, they are now getting very efficient spells to go along with it.

Green gets a 20 mana cost 8/7 meh creature, and blue gets 2 7 cost spells that drains any stored mana from creatures in hand, lol
  • Blue IS too OP but, sadly, all of my mythics and good rares are mostly white or other-than-blue. Don't get me wrong. I have an EXCEPTIONAL Gideon deck and I am happy with it but I since I've had the worst luck with blue, for now I'm beefing Gideon and I'm going to wait and see if they nerf blue a little before I start investing in Jace.

My vote is for Jace or Gideon, depending on your strength of your Jave vs. Gideon. In my case, Gideon is beating Jace. I don't many are in the same camp as me, though.
  • It's too easy to look at a card list and calculate the best PW, but the true decision comes down to what cards you own.

Blue is brilliant if you have loads of the Rare and Mythic cards, but without them, it's just a great 'potential'.

In the early days, we can only pick our PWs based on the cards we own. For me that's white. Loads of C and U cards that Gideon can easily buff to game smashing levels. I may not be playing with my 'ultimate' deck, but it's a deck I own, and it wins battles.
