scaling environment tile powers

Some environment powers, like containment breach, are useful regardless of how powerful your characters become. Others, like hot dog stand and Latvian terrain, are only useful at very low levels. Maybe the strength of these powers should be linked to your characters' abilities in some way?

  • I agree. I cringe when I can make a 4 or 5 match of those environment tiles (minus containment breach) because it's so tempting to clear the row but I know I'll get better damage if I make a simple match for AP I'll need.

Maybe besides scaling the environmental tiles they could increase environmental damage or make a boost that increases it?
  • On the downside, scaling would mean Thorned Rose in the Jungle area would probably wind up hurting more on higher levels. Right now, paying 100 HP when you're sitting on thousands is a really cheap boost to AP. Yes, yes, that would make it more fair... but as it is, that's a pretty sweet environmental ability.
  • Bumping my old thread in hopes that maybe someone from d3 thinks about it.

Also wanted to add a comment. Every battlefield type has two environment powers. I'm wondering: does anyone actually save up for the more expensive options, such as Narrow Alley? I've been playing this game for about 6 months, and I don't think I've EVER done this. It's just too expensive, and I'm focusing on getting color matches over environment tiles anyway. But maybe that's just me. Anyone think it's worth it?

It seems like the d3 team is completely focused on adding new characters and alliance content. I wonder if there's any hope of positive changes to old characters and game mechanics..

I think everyone agrees with you but it's kinda low down on their priority list, seeing as how even balancing C.Mag and Spidey has fallen behind setting up alliances - would definitely like seeing a Latverian Terrain create 3x strike tiles equivalent to the highest leveled character on the team someday.

I only save on the Winter board, it's worth waiting for. Latveria I just don't even bother using, clumps up the board for no real benefit.
  • A couple of days ago, I was able to fire off Narrow Alley in city environment. This was in Unstable Iso event iirc. It did 800 damage by itself and combined with cascades it did 2000 damage. For 210 environment tiles I thought it was a bit underwhelming. Some of them like Narrow Alley I think should go through funbalancing.
  • I was playing in Latveria today and activated the 1st power to get...a couple of strength 3 attack tiles. icon_rolleyes.gif

Not since the crit changes from the boosted characters. Honestly, I think now that they fixed that, they should really go back and examine if the diminishing returns for environmental tiles is really necessary
  • While I agree, it's kind of nice that the AI prioritizes the environment tiles, so they cripple themselves even more in arenas where the environment effects are grossly underwhelming. I can leave a juicy 4-match of them open as bait while I go for something else.

It's hilarious to watch a 150+ lvl PvE Juggs chase environemtal tiles so he can go visit a hot dog stand and get .00000000001% of his health back.
