Llanowar Empath -- Next Creature Full

Not sure if this is a bug or WAI, but with Llanowar Empath (think that's the name...starter green creature, when summoned, gives 3 mana to next creature in your hand), if the next creature is already full, nothing happens, as opposed to it possibly spilling over to the next creature after that which still has cost remaining. So if I get a cascade that fills both my Empath and the creature after it, the ability is wasted. But like I said, this may be WAI.

    When this creature enters the battlefield, the first creature you control in your hand gains 3 mana
    I suppose going strictly by card text the interaction you described is working as intended but it doesn't seem consistant with other instances where "mana overflow" occurs.

    It specifically says it grants 2 mana to the next creature. This is working as intended, so to play around it move your creatures around...

    This is similar to cards that "drain mana from the first card" - well if your second card is full, it isn't affected.

    I don't see the issue here.
