Unable to play story mode

I am unable to play the story mode. It is locked. I am playing on an Nvidia Shield Tablet. The game crashed when I completed the tutorial, but appeared to pick right back up when I relaunched it. However, story mode chapter 1 is locked. The only option available to me is quick play. This did not occur when I was playing as a guest on my iPhone. Help!
