Tis the season, right?

I'd like to buy gold for certain members of my Alliance. other than giving them cash to fund their purchase, is there a way I can buy gold for another person's account? If not, why not? I can see abuse capability if I could give gold from one account to another, but I want to spend cash and just have the gold show up in another person's account.
