Reverse Scaling on PvE points?

Seems like something is wrong with the way PvE nodes are assigned points.

this morning my Hard Simulator nodes reset to proper values. 5 nodes had around ~1000 points each.

I started to grind away at 2 of the easier ones for me, beat each one 3 times. I looked over at the other ~1000 point nodes and suddenly noticed their scores were ~750 instead of ~1000. I finished another high point node and the points for the remaining unbeaten nodes went down to 715.

What is going on? It is totally confusing that the points per node are reducing without playing them.

Is this something everyone is aware of?

to me it seems like the developers want to cap the number of points someone can get for grinding the enter event. If thats the case, why not just set the points lower? or make the drop off for the second match of each node drop off further than it currently does?

    It's the rubber banding effect.

You get up to 10 times the base score of a mission depending on how close you are to the highest scoring player. As you get closer it drops down to just the base score.

You obviously crossed the 10x barrier and had dropped as low as 7.15x.

Rubberbanding is happening. the actual base value for each node is something like 100: the reason why you're seeing them be 1000 is because the game is giving you extra points so that you can catch up to the current leader in points (across ALL brackets, not just your own). These extra points decrease as you get closer to the overall bracket leader, so this means that you're almost caught up to the current leader.
  • I see now, I thought rubber banding increased points if you are behind, not also lowered your points when you are ahead. I thought once the points are set, they are set.

I have to say that it is pretty frustrating, especially when you are trying to stay at the top of your bracket during an 8 day event.

It'd be even more frustrating if it didn't exist: if you were in a bracket where the leader grinded all the missions during every refresh, you'd have no way to catch up at all. At least this gives you a chance.
  • I lost a few matches and the nodes went back up. I'm leading my bracket in both the hard sub and the main but the main leader must be grinding even more.

just trying to get enough points to hold my lead until tomorrow morning.
  • The rubberband is based on whoever is the overall sub leader at any given time, so it can be constantly changing.
