Shield not working properly?

I have noticed the past few times I have used a shield the first attack still seems to come through. It didnt seem to work this way before. Is this an issue?

So common an issue that it comes up a few times a month. When you shield, your client does not always immediately notify the server. Attacks that come in during that lag period can still cause you to lose points. The prevailing wisdom is to check the high score list to force your client to communicate with the server and, hopefully, make the time that your shield becomes effective immediate instead of several minutes later.
