The New "Elder Game" Feature

In the November community video, a new, unreleased feature for the "Elder Game" was mentioned by Will. He said that he was really excited to reveal it some time this year.

To the Devs, do you have any hints about what this might be? Will it perhaps help alleviate issues around the RNG aspects of the game, such as:
-Some people being unable to progress in 5* land, despite opening piles of Legendaries?
Or
-The considerable disappointment felt when competing hard to attain a Legendary token, only to find the result is completely useless to your roster?

To the players, what do you think it might be? Or perhaps, do you hope that it would be?

Edit:
In terms of timing, IceIX has replied to another thread, saying the following:
As in the next new feature past Command Points? Possibly December, more likely January due to that whole Thanksgiving/holiday break thing really messing with dev timings. It's a biggie, so we want to make sure we have adequate test time on it before release.

I still say its some sort of a crafting system where you turn covers into for something, remember they said they was going to do Trade 3 and 4 stars into CP but it was messing up something in another feature they were working on, so hopefully some sort of crafting system.

I still wonder what the outcome of the running the gaunlet all the time was. must not been that great of a turn out cause i think we would heard something by now

It actually made me think of the Elder Gods. We'll finally get that Marvel/Lovecraft crossover everyone(?) has been longing for!

Also, when looking up Elder Gods, I found that there are Elder Gods IN the Marvel universe, some of which may have been inspired by Cthulhu.

Also also, I enjoy the fact I live in a world where "Cthulhu" is recognized by my spellchecker.

I thought it had something to do with the Elders of the Universe, which lead me to thinking Infinity Gems, then to Thanos.

Thanos Quest event collecting infinity gems from Elders of the Universe, sign me up!

Many freemium games have a VIP rating; the higher your VIP level, the better bonuses you get, including: bonus currency when making purchases, bonus energy per day, bonus free pulls from their token system per day, etc. Of course the only way to increase your VIP level is by spending money.

I definitely think this is the next step for Demiurge. This would be something like the the player's "SHIELD Agent Rank" and each rank would require a certain amount to money to be spent through the IAP store. Each rank would give permanent bonuses. Some examples are: get +10% bonus of what ever resource you buy, get a small bonus CP every month/week/day?, increase to Health Pack cap, even big bonuses for higher ranks like a certain number of free rerolls on tokens per week, etc.
Whales will hit whatever the highest rank is very quickly, but this will encourage more non-paying players to start making purchases. This sort of VIP program is very successful in other games, so I think Demiurge should definitely consider it.

I think you're onto something, Maw. It is in D3's DNA to cook up ways to convince players to spend more $$$. A VIP rating is certainly doable for the company. Of course, it could drive away some of the player base, but if they won't be spending $$$ anyway, I think D3 management will find that to be an acceptable loss.

Clearly there ISN'T one. Yet. They've just been BSing ya'll this entire time, trying to cook up ideas as they stall.

Just from reading the first few lines, this dude sounds more like Hermaeus Mora from Skyrim than a Lovecraft god. I even read the quote in his weird lispy pedo-voice.

(Edit:I know HM is obviously Lovecraft-inspired, I'm just talking about the fact that he spouts vague quotes about unfathomable knowledge instead of just kinda floating in space making people go crazy.)
  • it might be:
    1. task/quest based for versus, story and/or even prologue
    2. progression on token shop, each separate way/sprate reward(standrt, heroic,LT's,taco)

    or carry-over opened taco vault
  • I dont know what it will be, but I am pretty sure it is going to cost us $$, which means I don't care what it is.

Iron Man trades in his suit for Daedric armor, which is piecemeal. We have to play 2,040 matches to be able to get a left Pauldron for him.

And Bullseye and Hawkeye start aiming exclusively at kneecaps.

Plus all the H.A.M.M.E.R. soldiers start growling, "I'm watching you... scum." throughout the whole match.

Right now, I'm still hoping it's something to let us avoid being unable to progress due to bad RNG.

However, I heard a rumor from somewhere that maybe this actually has to do with that buff to 4*s they'd talked about. But I also heard that "buff" might also involve spending a lot more ISO. I'm so ISO starved anyway that I kind of hope that's not the case. Unless they start handing out a LOT more ISO some time soon.

yeah, raising 4* max level to 320 or 350 would just be an iso grab by them. and wouldn't help me one bit. half the guys I'm having to fight would immediately take their top 3-4 characters to the 300s unboosted. that would just blow. hard enough fighting 270s all the time.
