Comments

  • Hadn't made one of these in a long time and noticed there are some new icons - specific tokens, bigger versions of the HP & ISO, and now Command Points, so I threw it together.

I never figured out how to to the end times thing, so if someone wants to add that, I can slip it into the OP, or just leave it where it is.

No idea who to run here. Creepsicle is only 3/3/5 and I haven't dumped ISO into him yet, so not sure about him. I'll miss buffed Carnage this week for certain.

Likely just default back to Jeanbuster.

    Here are the end times:

    Slice 1
    Slice 2
    Slice 3
    Slice 4
    Slice 5

It's easy enough to do. The name is obvious, as is the date and time. The only thing you would need to change is p0=264 to a more appropriate number, which you can get by just setting up a new countdown for your own location and looking what number it assigns.

I'll put a link to your thread in the Season XX thread. Will you be doing the Season XXI thread? If so I'll back off as I know it will be in safe hands.
  • No plans as of yet to do more of them. Just had a free minute and saw there wasn't one yet. You've been doing a great job on them so I haven't felt the need to make many.

Don't like this week's buffs AT ALL icon_e_sad.gif Think I might be forced into running Loki with IM40 or something. My Gamora is only lvl 120 to boot as well

torch is great...then....well, that's it. of course loki is great too, but you don't want him tanking stuff. and you're probably not best served running torch in gamora, so meh.

I tried Torch / Loki, didn't like it much. Now I'm trying Jean / Loki and just let the opponent match 4 or 5, especially if it's a colour they don't use. Seems not too bad.

    Suggestions

A 5 blackflag.png Gamora's BFF is always Iron Fist, regardless of whether he's boosted.

She should tank blacktile.pngredtile.pnggreentile.pngtutile.png and get around 8-ish 254str strike.png tiles at max level.

Iceman's a good choice if you have him decently covered.

If you want the extra challenge, you can run IM40 and try to time the self-stun to drop Bad Rep when IM40 is stunned, then spam Razor's Edge. Unfortunately I think that this typically decreases the number of yellow tiles available by the same amount you'd gain from picking up two more colors.

I'm trying out Vision/IF as partners for Gamora - surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) better than either Bullseye or Torch, who take over too many of Gamora's colours. Vision blue with Bad Rep out and red aoe is pretty neat too.

I'm having a surprising amount of success with a unconventional line up of a 3/5/5 lvl 144 pre boost Gamora, max Daken, and a 0/1/1 X-23.

It looks vulnerable but when Gamora fires her black they're two/three shotting even some four stars, kick out a ton of strike tiles allowing X-23 to lay a bunch of 4k+ damage surprises and have actually been getting a couple of defensive wins which surprised the hell out of me. I always check and they were against players with decent rosters too.
  • I'm seeing an unusual amount of "troll" teams in Slice 4. I'm currently at 1,002 points with a little over 12 hours to go and I've queued up teams that are worth 70+ points. The interesting thing is that the teams are typically Level 70 Gamora + any two maxed two stars. Something seemed amiss so I would check their rosters and see that they were primarily maxed four star rosters.

I realize that these teams are often set up to bait the player into attacking so that they can retaliate for an exorbitant amount of points but why the sudden influx in these types of teams being out there that are worth so many points?

I don't think those are troll teams. I think it's players who are done climbing and put up an easy team to help others climb too.
  • That makes sense. How can a team like that be put up as a defensive team though? Wouldn't they have to actually win a match with that team?

Yes. My best guess is that they save a retaliation against a very easy team tp beat for last.

The lingo that's often used for this lately is a cupcake team.
When you are at really high points, you start to see seed teams and 1/2* rosters again. So while they are shielded, high end players will sometimes line up the following:

2 teams worth a lot of points, often other strong teams (but sometimes these are other players cupcake teams)
1 very soft team (often worth less than 10 points, but if you have friends doing this too, you can get all cupcakes and then they're all worth points)

Depending on if they're done with the event, or going to hop again they'll pick one of these options:

1 - as your last shield: Fight the two good teams with your A team, then fight the soft team with a soft team of your own. As you are about to finish the fight, notify friends (usually through the LINE app) to start looking for your cupcake. Finish the fight, wait about 30-40 seconds (or as long as you are brave enough to wait), then shield.

2 - if planning on shielding more: you change the order and hit with your A team, then your cupcake team, then your A team again. To do it this way you really want to have 2 opponents with soft teams so you can win the 3rd and final fight with your A team again very quickly, not leaving your cupcake team available to be queued the next time you break shield.

Really? they caved in and implemented a certain someone's repeated posts about high level seed teams? that might be the best contribution he ever made as a forumite, if that led to what's happening here.

Yes, and they're worth 1 point.

Well, this certainly explains why the cupcakes I have found have actually been worth more points than advertised. Good to know. I found a cupcake when I was looking for a good team to take me across 1300 points and decided to try it myself. I looked around a bit more, found an Icebuster that could take me to 1300, beat it, then took on the cupcake team with an identical team. Left it up for about 30 seconds (good to know that was a good time to take!) and then shielded. Got a lot of hits after I shielded, so I think it was appreciated.

there are some alliances that do this more than others. I have no first hand knowledge, but it only takes one in an alliance getting to their first shield with a seed team still on a node. once there, you can hop on the other 2 nodes and use the seed to throw up the cupcake later and you only need one team to do that, then someone else can find him and it can spread from there. I've seen many more lately than before, but I'm up towards 1300 much more now than I used to be, so not sure if that happened up high routinely before or not.
