What's better for you roster? Variety or Best 3?

This is something I've been trying to work out for a little while and wanted to throw it out there to you lot. What's better, to have a varied roster of well levelled characters or 3/4 really strong max level characters?

I ask this because, thanks to the new event, I have a bank of ISO for the first time in a long time and I'm faced with precisely this choice. My only maxed characters are OBW and AXMWolverine, but I have a level 77 Doom I use a lot.

I'd like to play with more characters (I have a half levelled Thor and C.Storm, I'd love to level Ares and Magneto NOW!), but I could level my Doom to 100. With current events working out the way they are though, my roster is severely weak when I get out from using my favoured Wolv/OBW/Doom combo.

So what to do? Is it better to give yourself options, and dare I say it, sustainability, or should you just pump your 3* mercilessly until you either max them or hit their cover cap?

Variety.

Let's say you could have your top 3 at 141, or your top 6 at 100.

For no holds barred type events, your top 3 will be slightly better. For events where your top 3 are buffed they will be slightly better. The gap between a 100 punisher and a 141 punisher isn't that great.

But if your #4 is buffed in an event, the gap between level 30 and level 100 is phenomenal. Or in an event where you aren't allowed to use one or more of your top 3 you are at a serious disadvantage.

The only thing 141s are really good for is for pvp defense, because they will be skipped more and the combat time with them would be bigger, so you have more time to pop out and back again in the shields, when going hardcore.
I am the proud owner of a very vast roster, with the top level being a 90ish Patch, hopefully soon 100.

I can say you that getting the top 5 in pvp is very manageable, but I cannot get that 1st place ever or almost, because when my points get big I am a too much an easy-greasy target to pass.
Variety is also overall better for PVE.

Final note: find the balance that works best for you, and don't look back

Short answer - level that doom, and level others as they are buffed/needed

Once leveled he's in your lineup most of the time, especially during villain lightning rounds.

Some high level villains and some high level heroes tends to work well. You get a buffed team in LR and it gives you more options in PvE/PvP depending on enemy team/buffed characters. I like to level up the hero that is buffed for PvP, especially if there are going to be 2x tournaments. How much I choose to level them up depends on what else is going on at the time, whether I intend to use them later at high level or whether it's just for the sake of that tournament.

Level Thor and cStorm too, you won't be able to use Doom in some Simulator Basics missions. Storm doesn't need to be capped, she's heavily buffed right now.

Current PVE is the perfect reason to keep variety. Since sometimes your best heroes may be locked...
