Mission Node proposal

So playing through the Galactus event, it gave me an idea for a new type of node for game to have, a “mission node”, where either the characters player or enemy have a mission to accomplish. This “mission player” takes a Hero slot on your roster for the battle, it has 1-3 powers which create a countdown tile on the board, if all the powers are active at the same time, the side wins (similar to Galactus’s Cosmic Wrath power). If you wish to make it really difficult, make the powers change once they’ve been cast it “flips” like Visions Blue/Yellow or the 5* powers and you could require up to 6 countdowns on the board.

So this “mission” will have the 1-3 powers which cost varying AP (depending on the node’s difficulty) and the colors vary with the node, so one event might have a Blue-Black Mission node, another might have a Yellow-Purple-Blue, etc. One key though, you’d have to be warry so that characters that steal AP (Blade, Loki) or generate AP quickly (IF, GSBW, Cyc) can’t be used to complete the missions quicker . Locking heroes out would depend on the mission, if it’s a Black-Blue mission, having GSBW won’t be that much of an advantage.

So obviously you don’t have to beat the defenders with your team, but if your team is powerful enough, have at it with your two heroes to win if you are that good. But, depending on the mission (and the story behind it), it might be a Wave node, and it would be easier to complete the mission.

So for example a sample “easy” mission with 1 power requirement, it has:
Mission #1: Red power, Collect 15 AP to cast a 4-turn Mission countdown tile. Purple power, Collect 16 AP to cast a 4-Turn countdown tile, if there is a Red Mission countdown tile on the board, you win.

A “trivial” mission might be 10-12 AP for each color. (This would have to be playtested).

An example of some missions:
1) The Dark Avengers attack Stark Tower and steal an important and run flee with the new technology. The Mission is to accumulate 20 Purple and 20 Black to escape the Avengers and Shield. Defending is 1 wave of 6 defenders: IM40 (lvl 115), 2xSoldier (lvl 100), and 2xAnalysist (lvl100), then Leg. Thor (lvl 130).
2) Thor (or essential character) and 1 other attack Osborne’s Iso-8 Vault, Accumulate 20 Black and 20 Pink to win the mission. You have to use 2*/3*/4* Thor +1 other, verses Rags (lvl 140), Moonstone (lvl 140), and Sniper (lvl 140) (well lvls are probably dependant on the scale of the player’s roster like other nodes).
3) A Hard 5 power mission. Unlock the Helicarriers vault to steal the Tesseract. Yellow: Collect 12 Yellow AP to cast a 4-turn Mission countdown. Black#1: Collect 11 Black AP to cast a 5-Turn Mission Countdown, and turn this power and Purple to Escape!. Black#2: Collect 10 Black AP to cast a 5-turn Mission countdown. Purple#1: Collect 10 Purple AP to cast a 5-turn mission countdown. Purple #2: Collect 12 AP to cast a 4-turn Mission Countdown. So this mission is a little different, as only the black power flips Purple, so you have to cast Yellow-Purple-Black-then then Purple and Black again. So total to cast these 5 powers, 55 AP of 3 colors, while getting beaten up by your opponents. (but again, AP requirements have to be playtested).

This could also be used in the DPD also, “Deadpool’s looking for the McGuffin!” For DPD, it could be limited to 6-8 characters to make it more challenging.

For the DPD Mission, you could have the following five “groups”:
• Avengers, X-Men, Dark Avengers, Magneto & Friends, and Wildcard (varies per 5 day cycle) Say “The Avengers are looking for the McGuffin, use GSBW, Mod.Hawk, BW, Hawkeye, IM40, IM to get that McGuffin”, or “X-Men looking for the McGuffin, use Storm, Mohawk, Wolverine, Patch, Cyclops, Prof F”, etc.
