Not that I want to, just realized it's odd:
Why can't thor and thoress be on the same team? Is it because the hammer is the character?
They are distinctively different people, Thor Odinson and Jane Foster.

Happy Friday and happy (near) end of our second year anniversary! Hope everyone has been enjoying the second run of Galactus! To top off everything else we've got going on, we're sharing wallpapers for every single character released in the game so far! Some characters, like Magneto or Wolverine, have gone by different monikers, so we tried to split the difference there and allow for both. Let us know what you think, or want to see more of on these!

It's because both Jane and Thor/Donald wield Mjolnir. And theres only one Mjolnir.
Ragnarok's an exception because his hammer's a fake.

Yes, supposedly it's because there's only one Mjolnir.
  • they cant attack at the same time anyway, so they can easily share the mjolnir.

There's also only one shield for Captain America but you can play with Sam and Steve together so the same logic is not applied.

It probably comes down to Thor being the person in the same way that 2* & 3* Caps cannot be used together, but 4* Cap is a different person using the same name.

But it's the hammer that's the same, not the person. And he obtained another hammer from an an alternate universe!

    Jane Foster
Marvel announced that in October 2014 there will be a new Thor who is female. As revealed in the aftermath of the Original Sin storyline, Thor lost his ability to wield Mjolnir, which was later found by Jane Foster who obtains Thor's power and his name. Thor, aware of his successor's identity and believing Jane Foster would not be able to use Mjolnir due to her cancer, briefly used battle axe Jarnbjorn before obtaining the Mjolnir of an alternate universe and renaming himself Thorr.
  • Different people can be Captain America without the shield, the shield itself doesn't make the core of the character - recall that for a while the shield was broken and Cap used a laser shield of sorts. Wielding the hammer itself makes you Thor.

They are distinctively different people, Thor Odinson and Jane Foster.

This has been discussed before, and the answer is that while Mjolnir is not the character, the character's powers are primarily based on possession of Mjolnir.

The two Captains America (Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson) are allowed because there has been more than one shield used by Captain America at different points. Sure, there's one vibranium one that's the core shield used in most of his adventures, but even with his early triangular shield, an Adamantium replacement crafted by Tony Stark, a trash can lid, or a shield-shaped force field, Captain America is Captain America.

If they were to introduce a 4* Odinson character after Thor Odinson's current appearance in the comics with his axe, hopefully he would be allowed to be on the same team with 4* Thor, but not with 2* or 3* versions. Beta Ray Bill, on the other hand, could go with any of them because he wields a different hammer.

(Has Odinson tried stealing Bill's hammer yet?)

3* Captain America has the zero point energy shield.

Wasn't there two? A Vibranium one and an Energy Shield of some sort?

In the game, the graphics when you go into the characters for both 3* Cap and 4* FalCap seem to imply they have two different shields.

Beta Ray Bill has Stormbreaker, and Masterson has Thunderstrike, so, Odinson has wielded them all. So, maybe we can get an Odinson 5* with abilities that change based on his teammates.. (or a passive that changes the weapon)

It's a pity that Beta Ray Bill is somehow a minor character, because he is a HELL of a character. Would love to see him ingame!

Mjolnir's inscription says ""Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.", so my guess is that there can only be one Thor; they could add a 4* Odinson, naming it "Thorr", "Valhalla avenger" or "Goldilocks", but seems unlikely icon_razz.gif

Well, with the intro of Old Man Logan, maybe they can do the same with Odinson.
